You'll recall that Ahmad Shah Massoud was the charismatic leader of the Afghan resistance fighters, known as the "Lion of the Panjshir," who was assassinated just before 9/11.
I just learned about a month ago that he has a son, now 32, unfortunately named Ahmad Massoud. In theory, this could have been a big deal, if he could attract attention and support based on name recognition. However, it implies that he's been sitting around not doing much for the last decade, not getting involved with helping Afghanistan in any prominent way until he suddenly surfaced now.
