Yeah, thanks, I'd rather not be reminded of this on a Friday night.
Healthcare providers and their cohorts in the insurance industry have quite the racket going on with the full blessing and aid of our government.
Even worse, some people think full government control is the answer, but apparently they don't pay much attention to how our government operates.
We have a hospital where we live. I call it the slaughterhouse. It's been told to me many times that they value money more than patient care. Unfortunately I had a few cases myself. I was supposed to have knee surgery and they wanted me to pay 1500 from a previous visit. I would have paid on it if they wouldn't have sent my bill to collections not even 2 months after my visit. I didn't even get an initial bill.
Went to a hospital 20 miles away and was scheduled for the surgery 2 days later. And yes, I DID pay that bill.
I also know of a few instances where some poor people, some I know, was not treated fairly, yet a person whom I work with, who's very financially secure, went in and was treated way better and received better care.
Of course they are. I'm to the point I do not trust ANY doctor or medical professional. I've toyed with the idea of finding a "real" doctor that works the way all doctors used to work--a fee for services rendered business model. You treat me for X and I pay you Y dollars for the treatment. I don't know if such doctors even exist. I don't think the Big Med machine would allow such a doctor to practice. I know there are "natural" doctors and herbalist doctors, but that's not quite the same.
Yes, but it is ridiculous to not know what a specific thing will cost prior to doing it.
You must think you’re a genius, huh?
Let’s see. You suffer an hemorrhagic brain attack and they take you to a hospital. You cannot speak or move. What do you want the firefighters to do? Take you to a cheaper hospital in the next town?
If you want to know how much something costs make an appointment with your doctor who will probably give you an appointment 6 weeks out.
Hospitalization required? Contact your insurance carrier. They’re the ones who count the beans. They might tell you how how much they’ll cover. Then again, they’ve been known to lie.
Medical treatment isn’t like getting your house painted.

They exist. Call any family practice clinic and ask.

Let's not forget that a Tylenol pill would cost 10$,if not more, then pay whoever is giving it to you, and the inventory payment...
They do go apepoop at times for cost of their services.
