I had a mild case when i was around 10 YO, about 1979. As soon as I turned 50 I got the shingles vaccine.
I have no problem with vaccines, but I do not think anyone should be forced to get one.

Same experience , here. The vaccine was not available till the mid 90’s.

I also had Shingles , substantially more painful than natural childbirth. I chose to take the Shingles vaccine, (once it became available ( 2006/7) to reduce the likelihood of a repeat.

In that case, get vaccinated when you're an adult. I say that because I think kids are loaded with too many vaccines and chicken pox isn't a dangerous disease.

I got the shingles shots (series of two) and I think that's an important one to get.
It’s worse for older kids too. I knew a couple who’s 12-year old kid got Chicken Pox and a pustule was on the back of her neck. The infection went into her brain and killed her. I would think it could happen to younger people too if it got near the brain. Prior to the vaccine Chicken Pox killed about 100 people every year. And since it’s a one and done type of virus why not have a vaccine? It seems perfect for it.

I had Shingles in my lower back. Much more painful than natural childbirth.

I have a neighbor who had it in his face, near an ear. A part of his lobe had to be removed. People have lost their sight when Shingles locates around the eye.

Unlike SARS CoV- 19 and variants or influenza, Shingles is not transmissible, person to person.

I knew a woman who got polio from her baby after the baby got the sugar cube polio vaccine. It was live vaccine then.

My mom told me that we had the sugar cube vaccine, but my mother was young enough when she had us that she also got the polio vaccine in the ‘50s or early ‘60s to go to school. I believe the lady I knew who got polio had never had the vaccine. She may have been older and never had to take it to attend school.

I got the chickenpox in 1995 right before the vaccine became available. I was 7 years old and it was in the summertime. The main symptom I remember was constant itching... I think I had it for like three weeks. I was just mad I had to miss out on a swimming pool party lol.

Having had shingles, I can assure you, that will be the best $200 you ever spend.

A person with shingles can give someone else chicken pox (unless they’ve already had it or the vaccine for it).

I had chicken pox twice, both times before the age of 2.

What's the point of this thread, other than to share childhood disease histories?
