I don't have the time or desire to hunt it down but a few months ago I saw a news story that said basically you could keep collecting unemployment if you felt "uncomfortable" returning to work due to fear of catching covid. No need to even apply for jobs.

Good.

I applaud anyone able to get money back from the government without penalty.

Whether that be unemployment, avoiding taxation, or anything else.

It’s your money, not theirs.

There are jobs everywhere. I tried to go into a place for lunch last week and a sign said they could only open on weekends because they had no workers. Anyone who wants work can find it an pay their bills.

And I'm sure that business mandates the vaccine! You want people to go back to work? Stop mandating that damned vaccine.

What happens:
Landlords go to court to recoup losses.
Rent evaders pay up or have hefty leins.
Slackers amazingly start selling medical mj.
Some slackers continue having kids and getting higher child tax credits.

And the rest of us who Paid promptly are now forced to pay more in rent to keep the landlord dancing over any dreams of saving . I've zero pity for landlords. Zero pity for evaders either.

We can have zero pity for landlords but you do realize what will happen now that it's established the govt. can essentially seize their property do you?

A riskier investment requires a higher return to attract capital.

Rents will *in general* go up because of this.

I don't think the law will allow landlords to recoup losses. They are just out.

People also don't want to have to wear a mask all day. A lot of places are already hot and sweaty. Adding layers of cloth over the airways sure don't help.
