Maybe.

I have to say that now, early on, no difference for me.

I hope people here will weigh in as we head into autumn to see if things get better.

How Do You Stop Robocalls?
An F.C.C. rule that went into effect last month is meant to help put a stop to those relentless calls about your extended warranty, and others.

By Christine Hauser

The latest effort by the Federal Communications Commission — the government agency that regulates communications — to cut down on the calls uses a technology called Stir/Shaken, which went into effect on June 30. While it has nothing to do with James Bond and martinis, it is meant to add to the arsenal of defenses against “bad guys” who trick people.

The F.C.C.’s first step was setting a June 30 deadline for what it calls “voice service providers” (you know them as phone companies) to register their efforts to reduce the scourge of scams in a public Robocall Mitigation Database. So far, more than 1,500 of them have, the F.C.C. said. Starting on Sept. 28, phone companies must refuse calls from providers that have not registered with the F.C.C.

I resorted to using my contact list as the filter. Anyone who calls that is not on the list goes to voicemail, without a ring-a-ding. Robocalls die a cruel bitless death.

The calls for Mariott hotels are the most consistent. I have blocked dozens of numbers and yet they call from another each time.

Stir/Shaken WILL help if not completely eliminate Robo calls. It's using technology, not just policy which is what the do-not-call list attempted. The only thing I want to know is why did it take so long?

That is what I do. Problem I have is I have a family member with health issues. Dealing with doctors, state agencies, etc. If a call comes in from area code for which I am dealing with I have to answer it. And its almost always a robocall.

"Voice providers must prove that they have the infrastructure in place to enforce rules of censorship."

Sorry, but I just don't trust the federal government. They say "we'll save you from robocalls" but what they're doing could be used and abused for so much more, and their track record on rights abuse is abysmal.

Never, ever take the government at its word. Always look for ulterior motives and unintended consequences. Any time the government does something, it's an exercise of power. It's our job to ensure that EVERY SINGLE THING they do is scrutinized as though they're trying to steal our freedom, because usually, whether intentional or not, that's the result.

Spam calls are creating a nation of people who won't answer their phones. That and the ubiquitous use of cell phones has made caller ID nearly useless.

Because Verizon and AT&T have lobbied ceaselessly to have one of their stooges running the FCC. Glad you asked.
