Also keep in mind it used to be a requirement that one needed a letter of recommendation from a congressman/women or senator to be admitted to an academy. Guess what's coming next. Unless that letter is from the 'right' person guess who is getting bypassed or admitted to them.

The purpose of political parties is patronage. That's the whole point of this every 2-4 year fiasco.
Many on this thread are mimicking Kelly Anne Conway's opinion that President Biden is "not upholding the previous president’s appointments which has been pretty much the tradition in a WH administration". To you, and the fired appointees I say this:
A peaceful transition of power is also traditional. Conceding a lawful election result is a tradition. Greeting the next POTUS at the White House is a tradition. Attending the inauguration of one's successor is traditional. Responding to the POTUS with respect, even when disagreeing, is traditional. And being qualified and possessing shared values for these appointments is traditional.
And, for crying out loud, just recognize the surest sign of someone unfit to serve in such a position is their unwillingness to resign when requested by the POTUS, be polite for once, even if you can't acknowledge how corrupt the/your appointment was, and go away.

It is debatable whether Biden can legally do this. Some are already vowing to fight him.

a) A Board of Visitors to the Naval Academy is constituted annually of—
(1) the chairman of the Committee on Armed Services of the Senate, or his designee;
(2) three other members of the Senate designated by the Vice President or the President pro tempore of the Senate, two of whom are members of the Committee on Appropriations of the Senate;
(3) the chairman of the Committee on Armed Services of the House of Representatives, or his designee;
(4) four other members of the House of Representatives designated by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, two of whom are members of the Committee on Appropriations of the House of Representatives; and
(5) six persons designated by the President.
(b) The persons designated by the President serve for three years each except that any member whose term of office has expired shall continue to serve until his successor is appointed. The President shall designate two persons each year to succeed the members whose terms expire that year.
(c) If a member of the Board dies or resigns, a successor shall be designated for the unexpired portion of the term by the official who designated the member.

quote " whether they are aligned with the values of this administration"
The democrats are trying to appoint politics into the military, to bring in Marxist study and indoctrination into the military with Critical race theory and BLM.
They are trying to root out those that would not obey blindly to them, hope you see that.
This is all part of a purge. The goal is to politicize the armed forces of the United States of America, then turn them into an instrument of one political party. And Jan 6th scared them to realize that many uniformed people don't share their ideology.
There are organic openings ie someone left, quit etc and replacing them with a political appointee which is an issue in itself. But to purposely 'fire' another politician's appointees? As noted it said this was the first time it was done strictly for political and not fill an opening by political means.
This is the same crew that is pressuring a leftist supreme court judge to retire now so they don't risk having them leave when they can't control votes/appointments.

Who does that? Authoritarians do that's who
Politicizing the armed forces, what in gods name is Kelly Anne Conway and Sean Spicer, former press secretaries serving on the boards. Give me a break.
I like Keane and McMaster even though Keane was a Fox News contributor but this is not a big deal and within his rights.
That Kellyanne Conway and Sean Spicer were serving on the boards seems reason enough to clear the place out and give it a good cleaning and disinfecting...
