well heyjude, those American flags you are alluding to certainly aren't in many California schools anymore now that teachers are bringing them down and bringing up ANTIFA flag in place....
But why didn't you care about those other causalities in Afghanistan? Are they less worthy of being honored? Why? Are they less heroic somehow because they didn't occur in the final days of the occupation?
.. sometimes, I wonder if my loved one was the only one who was willing to fight because nobody remembered him anymore besides his fellow Marines, me, and his parents. Then I realized, there are so many just like him. He, we, are not alone.
You honor this 13 troops, you honor them all. It is not a popularity contest.
Exactly my point, lily. No one put up a flag to honor your loved one. Why? Because there was no political gain to be had from it. I would think every military family who lost a loved one in Afghanistan would be sickened by how these last 13 troops were used as political tools when the other 2,400 were basically ignored.

The 13 were put back there because of something that did not have to happen.
Are they all remembered, of course, in one way or another. However, what happened to those 13, did not have to happen.
Did I just touch a nerve? Listen, I have lost many friends there, far more than any of these armchair useless people....
I see a lot despicable posts in various thread here on CD at times that have a real negative view of the county and or the service people themselves. Usually based on historical lack of understanding of this county and world history in general. I think to myself, just what the hell are they teaching in schools the last 20 plus years.
These same people are and will be entering positions of power more and more.

I appreciate your point of view, and understand what you mean. I dont want to start an argument because I like you.
This said, what I meant was, when somebody honor these 13 troops, they actually honor them all. It's not a popularity contest. It's always good somebody remember to honor the troops. So it's good that they remembered.
Anyway, thank you for posting. When they do something special for these 13 people, I feel they did something special for my Marine. It comforts me.
I believe I heard or read that individuals banded together and replaced the damaged flags (the cut and ripped ones were given to the local Boy Scouts for proper destruction), and the city did as well. Hopefully they installed some cameras as well.
I would prefer they left a marine sniper team, but that won't happen.
**** you California!
