"There is no doubt that events in Afghanistan will have heartened and emboldened some of those extremists and so being vigilant to precisely those kinds of risks is what my organisation is focused on along with a range of other threats," he said."
No doubt about it.
Now with the thousands of the newcomers in the US ( and not only) it's logical to expect not just one ( of the 9/11 magnitude) attack, but rather a series of them.
And not from the "known terrorists" only, but from the "disgruntled" and "disappointed" by their "experience of life in the Western countries" muslims.
Hmmm...a new 9/11 on steroids style attack on America...sure would divert us away from COVID-19, the failing economy, Bidens woes...plus inhance the military/industrial/internal security complex...

I don't believe such attack would "divert" from anything - it will be simply an additional hit.
So no need to stage anything, really.

Stop listening to warhawks.
I don't think the head of MI5 is a war hawk, and it's too late to go back in to Afghanistan.
As for the actual conflict that ended in 2014, when Operation Enduring Freedom was wound down, and replaced by the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission, which the new US Operation Freedom Sentinel.
This latter stage saw much reduced troop levels and an emphasis on support and training, with Bagram Air Base being central to this.
The main forces became units such as the US Security Force Assistance Brigade, Special Forces such as Green Berets and British Specialised Infantry and Special Forces, whilst other countries were also providing similar units.
As well as vastly reduced forces there were also vastly reduced casualty rates.
In terms of Afghanistan forces they relied on Bagram Air Base for everything from air support, to logistics, to training, to administration and even pay, and the writing was on the wall when Biden closed Bagram down over night without informing Afghan Army commanders. Whilst those maintaining Afghan equipment and providing air support were also hastily withdrawn. So it was little wonder that the Afghan Army quickly collapsed.
It is however to late to change history and those warning of another 9/11 are people involved in Counter Terrorism and who stop terrorist attacks on a daily basis and not war hawks.
The reality is that Islamic fundamentalist groups have been given a massive boost by the messy withdrawal in Afghanistan, and it's seen as a victory for them, and they will more than likely renew training in the region and plots against the US and her allies.

Biden's foreign policy seems set to make the world an even more dangerous place.
There is no doubt this is true.
If the U.N. actually had any real value, this would be the time for the U.N. to send a huge presence to monitor and deter Islamic terror coming out of Afghanistan.
How does Americas foreign policy affect the UK? Their foreign policy is going to cause them harm. Just like our foreign policy caused the 9/11 retaliatory attacks. When you illegally invade and occupy sovereign nations and murder innocents of course people will strike back.
Yep and it will be far worse than 9/11 . Mock my words .
'mock' my words.....
