It should be the trial of the century, but most Americans long ago stopped paying attention. What went wrong?
It's all about how the justice system at Guantanamo was set up, says one national security expert: "The system is set up to fail."
But the biggest factor in why it's taking so long, defense lawyers and other experts say, is the secrecy.
The government is still trying to hide the details of what happened to the detainees who were held and tortured by the CIA in secret prisons before they were transferred to Guantánamo.
Experts say at the rate the case is proceeding, there could be another decade of procedural hearings.
And there's the possibility of having no trial at all...
Mohammed was waterboarded at least 183 times, something described as "near drownings". He was subjected to rectal rehydration, stress positions, sleep deprivation, forced nudity, and told his children would be killed.
He would confess to multiple plots during that time. But a Senate report later found that much of the intelligence supposedly produced had been made up by the detainee. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-58393231

It's a shame that one of the 183 'near drownings' weren't successful.

** When we do it its ok, when anybody else does this we scream war crimes against humanity or they're Nazi's blah blah blah. This sick depraved torture is not America.... many detainees released after yrs of this who were nothing but goatherders one just 13 well guess what they or family members are now here delivered by the USAF so when they kill remember their motivation born in America's torture concentration camp in Cuba. Saddam, Bin Laden were wacked for knowing too much and Gitmo has tortured those into drooling mentally unwired shells for same purpose. They could no should've been tried in court in America and executed...but then according to our laws they would be appointed attorneys and allowed to present evidence...oops that wouldn't have ended well...

These people wanted to kill Americans and some were involved in planning 9/11. I don't give a f*ck about the tactics that were taken against those looking to kill innocent Americans. We were trying to gain intel and we did. After that, each should have received one bullet.
The brilliancy of the 9/11 attack was its simplicity; hijack 4 commercial flights destined to fly coast to coast with 2 targeting the WTCs and the other 2, the Pentagon and Capital.
Weapons used: Mace and knives
Recruiting, motivating and focusing 19 males to undertake the coordinated suicide mission was more complicated.
