That's from March 2021. At any rate, there are cases where someone that has been vaccinated does contract the virus; some are even hospitalized. I would not completely trust the CDC due to the gaps in the data stream. Even so, hopefully people will continue to get vaccinated.

The vaccine reduces the risk but isn't 100% effective. An unvaccinated person is a walking petri dish for covid who can infect me. The sooner we get enough people mostly immune, the sooner we can go back to normal.

Though I'm not entirely onboard with mandating the vaccine. Give it a year or two and all of the loons who think George Soros is trying to give them AIDS will have either died from the virus or have acquired immunity from getting infected.

I don't support the hesitancy. We don't 100% understand all the long-term effects from the vaccine, but there's no evidence there could be anything serious. It's like avoiding a house down your block saying it could explode. I can't prove it won't explode, but there's no reasonable mechanism to even allow that to happen. What we do know are the long-term effects of a serious covid infection, which run from annoying to life-shortening.

It's a new illness. People seem to expect scientists to know everything immediately, and if they get one thing wrong, from then on they must be wrong about everything.

"I don't support the hesitancy" is meaningless. "He's hesitating whether to jump in the river or not." "I support his hesitancy."

ALL of the unvaccinated but not vaccinated (= still predominantly asymptomatically infected) contribute to herd immunity

How about doing what scientists are supposed to do and actually study the vaccine results before leaping to the conclusion that a broad brushed mandate is appropriate.

If scientists actually acted like scientists maybe people would actually accept their stance on the matter.

The studies are still out on this. And I do worry about how many vaccines, boosters or whatever else will be "enough" if it is ever enough. I also wonder what this broad brushed approach will wind up doing to healthy immune systems that are not at risk from this virus. First do no harm.

Actually, from the CDC themselves...

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...%20to%20others.
Fully vaccinated people with Delta variant breakthrough infections can spread the virus to others. However, vaccinated people appear to spread the virus for a shorter time: For prior variants, lower amounts of viral genetic material were found in samples taken from fully vaccinated people who had breakthrough infections than from unvaccinated people with COVID-19. For people infected with the Delta variant, similar amounts of viral genetic material have been found among both unvaccinated and fully vaccinated people. However, like prior variants, the amount of viral genetic material may go down faster in fully vaccinated people when compared to unvaccinated people. This means fully vaccinated people will likely spread the virus for less time than unvaccinated people.
Vaccinated people can still carry the virus but the virus is weakened and if expelled, have a shorter lifespan.

Masks reduced the size of expelled droplets, the quantity of expelled droplets, and the travel distance of expelled droplets.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/scienc...25753520302630
Also, as shown by the CFD simulations, aerosols do not necessarily spread uniformly in space due to complex character of air flows. Such non-uniform spreading would certainly affect the total exposure as well.
It means all those partitions at the market cashiers are essentially useless. Someone next to you can be non-vaccinated and masked but you can still get his expelled virus because as you both wave your arms and move about, air turbulence WILL get around/over the partitions.

So ultimately, even if you are vaccinated and masked, as long as you are in public, there is ALWAYS a risk for you to being a carrier/transmitter.

If we are to continue our civilization, we should stop living in fear and like it or not, deal with this as we have dealt with other crises in the past. Those who are non-vaccinated should consider getting vaccinated but listen to your doctors, and those who are vaccinated should leave the non-vaccinated alone because you do not know their reasons, medical or non, as to why they chose to be non-vaccinated. And together, as long as we respect each other's decisions, we will get over this.

Totally true. No one EVER said it does.

It reduces the spread.

Fact.

How exactly do you quantify that "fact"? ...You can't!

If you were in pain and I gave you a pill (a placebo), and told you it was the best new painkiller on the market, then when you say the pain is still there, I could simply say that it would be worse if you hadn't taken it. This is your logic!

Where is the link the director said that?
CDC and FDA already confirmed the vaccinated will not "stop spreading" and 'prevent getting C19"

Your vaccination won't work unless everybody is vaccinated.

Because, unless it's for a valid medical reason, if a person (not you, don't want to make this persona find l) is unvaccinated, they are a small minded idiot and I find them to be a blight on America. A year ago I wanted COVID to be gone. Now, I want to to be much more efficient in dealing with the unvaccinated.
