She could lose her job as student body president, as that would fall under employment law. It depends on how KU, or the KU student association, structured the position. Courts have found that corporations, even government corporations such as universities, can control the speech of their employees when they are speaking in their role as employees.
But expulsion would be a violation of the 1st Amendment. She is permitted to say what she wants as part of her free speech rights, and as KU is a government entity, they cannot penalize people for exercising 1st Amendment rights.
I hope you support her constitutional rights.
Except liberals have fired employees for saying something "unliberal." One instance that comes to mind is a teacher who was fired for writing that All Lives Matter.
I think the university was wrong in that case, although it is a slightly different set of circumstances. The OP cited a case where the student in question is currently attending the university and is in the middle of the course of study. The case you cite is for a student admitted, but not yet attending.
Again, I am not a supporter of public universities punishing students for saying things on their own time.
It was dropped, but one university was taking disciplinary action against a student who had used a photo of Trump as his zoom background.
And at another university, a student was kicked out of class for disagreeing that Trump's election was as bad as 9/11.
The stifling of freedom of speech by those on the left of those on the right has been going on for years, yet those on the left can say things and everyone just says, 'freedom of speech'.
Where rock do these nasty scumbags crawl out from under?
"KU student body president says ‘death to America.’ Might such rhetoric accomplish that?
"Condemnation was swift and torrential, but consequences are unlikely, for the University of Kansas student body president who retweeted Sept. 3, “happy friday everybody. death to America.”
Niya McAdoo’s bizarre retweet, from a Twitter account called @comradeSYX, brought a perfect storm of outrage not just to her, but to KU. “Donors, Alumni Enraged by University of Kansas Student Government’s ‘Death to America’ Message,” read the headline at national columnist Todd Starnes’ article on the episode.
“It is ironic that she’s endorsing death to America,” says state Sen. Kellie Warren, Republican of Leawood, “when America’s liberties are what give her the freedom of speech to say such outrageous things in the first place.” Warren called for civility at KU, and for students not to “elect student government leaders who further incite the very hatred and division they claim to oppose.......”
Why am I ever surprised when folks don't even read a little bit about a subject before knee-jerk reacting?
She has every bit the right to say that as any other student could say "I hate Black people". And neither would be more or less offensive generally.
The Chancellor (white man) and the head of the Regents (Black woman) disagreed with the message but supported her right to say it.
It would be incumbent on the KU student body to get her to resign, not the University leadership.
KU has a student body that is ~5% Black. Kansas is ~6% Black. The Prez is majoring in Af-Am studies. I suppose we'll find out her career path at the end of the school year.
1) You're confusing the right to say something with escaping any repercussions for doing so.
2) Someone says I hate black people, they're gone from that campus.
Don't play dumb, nobody is buying that getting a pass for offensive speech is diversity neutral.
Haha that's TrigglyPuff!!!!!!!!!!!! She made herself famous. Now her fat sister is chanting death to America. I have never seen a good looking liberal lefty protestor.
Ah yes. Triggly Puff. She's famous across the www but not in a way she probably wanted
The Universities and other organizations typically hide their biased punishments under the guise of deeming some speech to make others feel "in danger and unsafe" while deeming other speech to not do that.
Saying bad things about trans for example would be deemed creating a hostile environment where they don't feel safe....thus justifying the removal of the student.
Death to America however would not be deemed as such.
I know this much, KU boosters and donors will be none to happy with this.

KU alumni should let their wallets speak for them.
