I think Breitbart are making more of a story out of this, than the evidence suggests.

Firstly the NHS has stated it's not holding on to personal data and secondly no where in the story is it suggested that the police were being passed data.

The police lost a case last year in related to automated facial recognition which the Court of Appeal ruled breached the right to privacy under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). It was alsp in breach of the UK's Data Protection Acts of 1998 and 2018, and failed to comply with the police's obligations under equality legislation. Whilst the UK still adheres to EU data legislation such as the The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and any breaches of data law in the UK will be subject to investigation by the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) who must also adhere to the European Convention on Human Rights.

Appeals court hands down the UK’s first judgment on automated facial recognition (Aug 2020)
