Any chance the administration will force illegal immigrants to get vaccinated?

"The Democratic mayor of a Texas border town is pleading with the Biden administration to do more to stop the flood of migrants at the southern border at the same time the Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General found that the federal government's failure to test migrants for COVID-19 puts the health of Americans at great risk.

Bruno Lozano, who serves as mayor of Del Rio, Texas, put out a video on Twitter Friday morning warning about the "real time threats" of COVID-19 and "other communicable diseases......."

"....."This is something that really needs to be brought to light," the mayor said. "We need quick action from the administration. We need quick attention to this. We need a response in real-time."

Those health threats were underscored in a government watchdog report on the Biden administration's handling of the migrant crisis. The IG report called out Customs and Border Protection's failure to "conduct COVID-19 testing for migrants who enter…custody" and noted that the White House has not required it to do so. That policy, the IG wrote, puts federal employers' "support staff, communities, and migrants at greater risk of contracting the virus......"

Have no problem of the IG pointing out that the vaccination at the border is not consistent with the federal policies implemented.

I hope that Biden speaks to that and forces a change.

As for the surge -- seems that most of the Haitians are being deported. Federal govt. announced they will secure 6 to 8 flights a day.

Interesting article on the impact on the border for the last 20 years -- some interesting graphs for a quick peak.

If I were Biden I'd be asking why the border patrol isn't doing its job.

it is interesting, seems reasonable and fact-driven for the most part though certainly at least leans left.

the graph on ORR occupancy by minors did lead me here:

https://www.hhs.gov/programs/social-...021/index.html

which tells me the "face" of the UC (Unaccompanied Children) isn't the toddlers the Media loves to show us, but older teenagers.

August stats aren't in yet, but as of July, 74% were 15 yrs old or older.

and this ...
Quote:
Most sponsors are family members of the children, which should make the sponsorship process easier. According to DHS, more than 80% of unaccompanied children have a family member in the United States, and in 40% of cases that family member is a parent.
so why would the parents be here, but not their children? 32% of the children already have their parent here?

How many of those parents can be here legally?

Biden probably would, but it lies with Mayorkas not CBP. The relevant parts of the executive summary

Quote:
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) does not conduct COVID-19 testing for migrants who enter CBP custody and is not required to do so. Instead, CBP relies on local public health systems to test symptomatic individuals..... the DHS’ multi-layered COVID-19 testing framework does not require CBP to conduct COVID-19 testing at CBP facilities.
in essence, DHS would need to have qualified test takers at each intake facility to get the tests and send them to a lab that can handle them rapidly for processing.

The thing is that the vaccine is administered in more than one dose at different intervals and now they are talking about booster shots down the road. Why allow them into the country in the first place is my question. Those who snuck into our country should be deported instead of allowing them to hang around for different shot intervals.
