I generally side more with Democrats than GOP on issues but I do think GOP does a better job at running things on the local level. Cities dominated by Democrats build up a massive needless bureaucracy. Large city in my area pays one person $150k per year just to answer media questions about the local school district.
I’m sure a part of that has to indirectly do with politics - things underlying that such as taxes and COL - but undertaking a move, IMHO rarely has to do with politics itself. I grew up in a lefty state, have lived in a righty one, and am planning to move to another lefty state. Politics aren’t much of why I did any of that.
I disagree. The main reason I fled MD was to escape the left wing lunatics who run the state and make up the majority of the voting population. Maryland used to be a great place to live. Sad.
Red states housing prices in the last few years have shot up amazingly, so housing there not cheap any more. Food are more expensive in red states comparing to CA, NY, so are some services. It's not a good choice to go to the Republican states any more, so please don't go.
On the other way around, anyone, Democrats or Republicans from the red states, are welcome to flee to CA, NY, WA, MA.. if they can afford them.
LOL, anything above 80F is too hot, I have no issue with snow, glad a huge percentage of people are deathly afraid of it as it results in more reasonable housing prices.
"LOL, anything above 80F is too hot,"
Your OPINION, which obviously MILLIONS disagree with!
"glad a huge percentage of people are deathly afraid of it"
Big cities is where the most business and money resides. It is where most people can find work. Jobs for a whole lot more people than 'the select few'.
"It is where most people can find work. Jobs for a whole lot more people than 'the select few'."
Telecommuting was just starting to take hold about 15 or so years ago.
With covid MANY have discovered they DON'T HAVE TO go to a big city to work.
Business's are realizing they DON'T need everybody in the building.
With more and more working from home, business do not need as much office space and office equipment, hence LOWER operating overhead costs.
MANY colleges are continuing to offer off site schooling.
My granddaughter got her diploma, Summa *** Laude from a highly respected university 3/4 across the country from wher she lives.
My neighbor works from home ordering material from around the world.
As has been going on forever, man and times change.
Not entirely correct, and while a lot of those problems to have political roots, it’s not politics which are explicitly top-of-mind for a whole lot of those folks who are voting with their feet.
"Not entirely correct,"
Very few thing ARE "entirely".
I would say MOSTLY correct.
I believe this because I live in one of those ares many people are moving TO and that is what they give as the no.1 reason.
I know several democrats that fled blue cities/states to red areas/states because of taxes/crime/corruption/congestion.
"because of taxes/crime/corruption/congestion" caused by POLITICS!
