Seems like we tried the whole nation building thing in Iraq and Afghanistan. Too much corruption over there to make that work. This is a UN humanitarian issue. I am not a fan of the UN but I thought this was their area. Not our problem directly. Best we can do now is keep them from entering the country. Or a blockaid in the waters off Haiti keeping them in Haiti.

The dems are basically handing 2022 and 2024 to the GOP with this horrible border and immigration policy. Add to it the handouts and runaway spending and bizarre covid policy. And of course Afghanistan.

Nation building like that doesn't work. Those people have to help themselves.

Haitian immigration is not new at all. It has been happening particularly in the past 10 years. But now they have a good case for asylum. Now it's not just poverty, their country is not safe right now.

In all fairness …. the Haitians followed the WhatsAp directions they were given. They were told that the USA would allow them in based on Biden’s promises. They didn’t try to avoid the Border Patrol, they took a number to wait their turn to enter as they had been told was the way to do it according to US Law.

That’s why they waited under that Bridge. They were LIED to. Hard to blame them when they discovered that.
They were/are terrified of going back to Haiti and the horrors of living there.

Hard to blame them for attempting to escape their deportation back to Haiti. They had no idea that was never going to happen, it was alll propaganda to make the Del Rio Debacle go “Poofâ€.

Yeah yeah yeah, I know. if they don't enter here now then they can't eventually vote democrat. It would be great if after all these illegals come here they vote republican. That would be the dems' karma come back to bite them.

Biden's admin can't call allowing these illegals to come here as a humanitarian act. That's BS. This are anything but. The Cubans could have used some 'humanitarian help' but they were turned away because they'd vote republican. They have no right to call this crisis 'humanitarian'. That's like saying they want to keep us safe so they mandate the vaccine yet they allow all these illegals here to spread Covid.

This administration is so stupid.
Oh boy -- someone is catching on.

Yes if we have spent more time on countries that are in chaos and surging our borde3rs -- years ago -- we would have a heads up now.

But massive fail -- we were looking for a 'wall' to solve the problems.

duh.

You do realize that the Haitians at the border are coming up from Central & South America and not directly from Haiti itself right?

If Haitians were leaving their island en masse they would head for Florida first since it's the closest state not float all the way to Texas and then try to enter at the border.
That doesn't make any sense.

We don't owe these people a cent, not one damn cent, not a meal , nothing ! They do nothing to make their country a better place, they just sit on their ass and take. We do not need a single one of them here. Close the borders !!!!

Nation building does work, when it's done the right way. The way to do it is to depose their government, take complete control of their social, political, economic, and cultural institutions, and impose our way of life on them, whether they like it or not. This is what we did with Germany and Japan after World War II, and it worked splendidly. We should either do this, or wash our hands completely. Doling out aid does nothing but enrich the corrupt rulers.

This whole 'Haitians at the border' thing looks orchestrated and quite theatrical in the numbers and timing. Who bankrolled this crisis?

An interesting, in-depth history of the Haitian migration - covers a lot of territory - and well worth a read:

https://apnews.com/article/technolog...b786d2d800f3ce

Short story, most have had lives in other countries for many years - economic disruptions have motivated this migration.

They communicate with each other via their own grapevine - smugglers do not pay a large part in this diaspora:
Quote:
It is a population that relies little on smugglers and instead moves based on shared experience and information exchanged between the tight-knit community, often via WhatsApp or Facebook, about where it is safest, where jobs are most plentiful and where it is easiest to enter a country.
