California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a Democrat-backed bill on Friday that will remove the term "alien" to describe migrants in the state’s legal code.
Introduced by Democratic California State Assemblymember Luz Rivas, the bill replaces "alien" with terms such as "noncitizen" and "immigrant" throughout state law. The term "alien" was used in California since 1937 and by the federal government since at least 1798.
"As the nation’s most diverse state, we are stronger and more vibrant because of our immigrant communities," Newsom said in a statement. "This important legislation removes the word ‘alien,’ which is not only an offensive term for a human being, but for far too long has fueled a divisive and hurtful narrative. By changing this term, we are ensuring California’s laws reflect our state’s values."
No, he didn't mention the word illegal, only alien. So I guess that means we can call them illegal immigrants.
Know your wokabulary!
I dabble a little in my family's genealogy, and the word 'alien' is used quite a bit to describe someone's immigration status in many of our United States Census'. I'm not sure why there's outrage, all the sudden. The term 'alien', when used in talking about someone's immigration status, is the correct English word to use. Our friends on the left are letting their emotions get the best of them here, but when don't they?

Exactly. And illegal is also the correct word, since they're criminals entering the country illegally.
Alien just means a foreigner. What Newsom is really trying to do is get rid of the distinction between Americans and foreign nationals, thereby legalizing all the illegals.
When I'm in another country I am not offended if they call me a foreigner. That's what I am there, not an immigrant, and I'm not trying to over stay.
Leftists always have to change definitions and description to make their schemes seem like something other than what they are.
