power and control is what they gain. Control over the media presented and the power to influence.

If you only see "A" then you'll believe in A.

I agree with others. It is a start.

YouTube is banning prominent anti-vaccine activists and blocking all anti-vaccine content.
The Google-owned video site previously only banned misinformation about coronavirus vaccines. Facebook made the same change months ago

More than a year after YouTube said it would take down misinformation about the coronavirus vaccines, the accounts of six out of 12 anti-vaccine activists — identified by the nonprofit Center for Countering Digital Hate as being behind much of the anti-vaccine content shared on social media — were easily searchable and still posting videos. Wednesday’s policy change means many of those will now be taken down.

When the pandemic hit, and vaccines became a topic that was suddenly relevant to everyone, not just parents of young children, many went looking for answers online. Influencers like Mercola, Kennedy and alternative health advocate Erin Elizabeth Finn were able to supercharge their followings. Some anti-vaccine influencers, including Mercola, also sell natural health products, giving them a financial incentive to promote skepticism of mainstream medicine.

The anti-vaccine movement now also incorporates groups as diverse as conspiracy theorists who believe former president Donald Trump is still the rightful president, and some wellness influencers who see the vaccines as unnatural substances that will poison human bodies. All of the government-approved coronavirus vaccines have gone through rigorous testing and have been scientifically proved to be highly effective and safe.
The baseless claims which proliferate against the vaccines and inoculation on social media--- some pushing dangerous or ineffective treatments and phony protection---are preventing people from making reasoned and informed decisions about their health and safety and are prompting real-world problems, including unnecessary illness & suffering and death.

Truth matters. This is a step in the right direction.

Again youtube owned by Google who is owned by Alphabet inc.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/YouTube

Don't use Google products including Android or Chrome book devices, Youtube, Fitbit and traffic update feature Waze. If they only want certain people to use their products maybe only certain people should actually use or buy their products.

Sidenote Russia wants to ban Google today for censoring/banning RT. Say what you want there just as good or accurate as many msm outlets in the US or west today.

They get compensated. How and by whom will not be known, if ever. These kinds of business decisions are not made on a whim. They just don't toss out the revenue that would have been generated out of the goodness of their hearts.

From Adam Shiftless. Its dated from Feb 2019
https://schiff.house.gov/news/press-...misinformation
Quote:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), sent a letter to Sundar Pichai and Mark Zuckerberg, the Chief Executive Officers of Google and Facebook, respectively, to express concern that the company’s platforms including YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, are surfacing and recommending information that discourages parents from vaccinating their children, contributing to declining vaccination rates which could reverse progress made in tackling vaccine-preventable diseases.

“As a Member of Congress who is deeply concerned about declining vaccination rates, I am requesting additional information on the steps that you currently take to provide medically accurate information on vaccinations to your users, and to encourage you to consider additional steps you can take to address this growing problem,” Schiff wrote in the letter. “I was pleased to see YouTube’s recent announcement that it will no longer recommend videos that violate its community guidelines, such as conspiracy theories or medically inaccurate videos, and encourage further action to be taken related to vaccine misinformation.”
this ongoing censorship isn't the result of market forces. Its big tech bowing down to or partnering up w/govt.

The administration has already advocated, implied and/or asked for censorship. But last week Press Secretary Psaki speaks out for more.

https://news784.com/2021/09/25/white...-social-media/

So Youtube Ceo a Hillary Clinton supporter obliges even if taking 'the hint' or from an actual letter, call or meeting.

The question is what does Youtube and Google want from the administration. It could be since Google has come under more scrutiny in Europe they don't want the same in the US.

News: "YouTube to remove misinformation videos about all vaccines"

Good. Mercola and Tenpenny and Kennedy etc should have been banned years ago. Their anti-public health stance and anti-vaccination agitation and deliberate falsehoods are just harmful and wrong.

YouTube’s curbing of anti-vaccine content is a strong first step.

But this doesn't mark the end of our fight against deadly misinformation.

These policies must be enforced.

And we must keep pushing for other companies to follow suit.

What do you say,
@Amazon
and
@Facebook
?
