Any superintendent that tells students he’s proud of them for staging a walkout, especially one that included students cursing administrators, regardless of the reason, needs to be fired.

That is likely quite rare. Most of the hoaxers are lefty "victim" activists, or just plain idiots like that Nascar guy and the pull rope on the garage door he claimed was a "noose".

Back in the day, such hoaxes would have brought shame upon the perpetrators, with people from the same 'group' as the perpetrators bemoaning that these actions bring discredit upon their people.
Nowadays, there is no such shame or decency. Such hate crime hoaxes today are excused and brushed aside, which as pointed out only further embolden others to do the same. It's become an accepted means to an end of 'social justice' or whatever nonsense these fools want to call it. So many examples of this, including the infamous Althea Bernstein case which made international news (police deliberately kept mum about the investigation and eventually moved on saying there was no evidence it happened but did so quietly).
As far as the 'woke' reactions when these hoaxes are first reported and then revealed, that is another perverse after effect of these SJW's. Any time an incident like this is first reported, the automatic knee jerk reaction is to immediately release a public statement condemning the act and stating how they (school, business, etc.) are against such 'hate' and does not represent their values, blah blah. There is no such thing as waiting for investigation to be complete before making judgement these days, an entity must immediately release a blanket statement condemning racism for fear of being labeled 'racist' themselves for not speaking out quick enough. Then, after the hoax is revealed, there must be a statement that despite the hoax, it still brought much needed discussion on racism and not to fixate on the hoax (again, for fear of being labeled 'racist' for not doing so).
Student- led activism - challenging the status quo, is as old as university. Over time, it made a major contribution to Civil Rights legislation, ending the expansion into Cambodia, ending the Vietnam War, reducing the voting age to 18 and eliminating the draft.

THIS is exactly why the far left people are changing to being hyper woke.
There is just not enough supply of racist inbred hillbillies to meet the demand for morons walking around in bedsheets and calling black people the N word.
