"Want" is subjective.

It's not like they have much choice anymore.

Find me a TV made in America.

jamesway, caldors, bradlees, zayres etc did not ultimately survive, but it was you the consumer that enabled walmart to rise from the ashes of their self immolation. 'having', became more important than 'having something worth having' and here we sit.

Lowest in 70 years!

11% of our economy is massive.

8.5% of over 300 million people is, like I said, millions upon millions upon millions of people.

No he's spouting propaganda.

And speak for yourself as far as consumerism. I don't shop at Walmart the only manufactured goods I buy that are imported are shoes and work pants. And a cell phone every 2-3 years.

There are millions less working in manufacturing than there were 10+ years ago, though. What town doesn't have fewer manufacturing jobs? For instance, the top manufacturer in my town employed up to 1200 workers. But it shut down and was sold off to a different manufacturer, but now only employs around 200.

To little surprise, huge printing plants have closed across the country, including the one in my town that printed Rolling Stone and other magazines. The plant is still for sale. If any new manufacturing plants open, they will quite probably employ only a fraction of the numbers they once did, due to automation.

Yeah?

What kind of vehicle do you drive?

Even "American" cars have a huge amount of foreign content and may even be assembled in Mexico.

Same thing goes for many "American" consumer goods.

Difficult to buy American these days even if you want to.

Kids can't work. That 300 million includes babies, kids, teens, old retired people.

There are only 113 million working aged people in the US.

Only 8.5% employed is small potatoes....9.6 million
30% of the workforce works in......fast food....33.9 million flip burgers
