I just leave it here without any further comment.
The CDC changed the definition of 'vaccine' and 'vaccination' a little more than a month ago. You can check the original one using the Wayback machine - Internet archive, just search on any date before Sept.1.
Original CDC definition
Vaccination: the act of introducing a vaccine into the body to produce immunity to a specific disease.
Vaccine: a product that stimulates a person's immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease.
New CDC definition
Vaccination: the act of introducing a vaccine into the body to produce protection to a specific disease.
Vaccine: a preparation that is used to stimulate the body’s immune response against diseases.
Far too much time is spent saying that the Covid vaccines are not vaccines. Call them whatever you want. It doesn't change the fact that the vast majority of people hospitalized and/or dying from Covid are not vaccinated. They clearly work regardless of what you call them.
The previous definitions could have been “interpreted to mean that vaccines were 100% effective, which has never been the case for any vaccine, so the current definition is more transparent, and also describes the ways in which vaccines can be administered,” the spokesperson said.
In our minds, a vaccine remains a vaccine, regardless of what the CDC says. So nothing has changed.
Vaccines have always given us immunity by stimulates a person's immune system and will always continue to do so. How else can a vaccine provide protection?
The fact is, the covid vaccine is not very effective and will still continue to be not very effective no matter what the CDC decides to call it. Is it really a vaccine in the first place? It stimulates the body's response by stimulating the production of antigens so I guess it is a vaccine of sorts.
True definition of a vaccine:
Quote:
Vaccine: A preparation that is used to stimulate the body's immune response against diseases.
And that folks, is it. So when you guys say vaccine that is what I understand you to mean and vise versa. No CDC required!

One can't really say that since the data collection is at best suspect, i.e. inaccurate.
In a world of unvaccinated, of course the majority of infections noted will be in the unvaxxed. But once a population is mostly vaxxed then naturally the majority of covid cases will be in the vaxxed. If the vaxx doesn't work very well that is. But remember, we are being vaxxed for the alpha variant, not the delta variant.

Immunity is a type of protection.
A product is a type of preparation. Like preparing a salad. The salad is a product of said preparation.
Producing an immune response is just longer way of saying "produce immunity". Immunity is just an immune response. The 2nd definition is just more detailed.
More specific and seems to come from a direct response to people misunderstanding the original definition.
person vs body covers animals by use of the word body
immunity vs protection.... essentially total protection vs some protection.... covers current vaccines/breakthroughs
specific disease vs disease(S) - suggests a loop hole for off label use, like ivermectin. FDA approval based on clinical research using very specific viruses/bacteria/pathologies.
If the specific virus or bacteria is not researched, submitted for approval it is not listed in the labeling and cannot be promoted by that pharma company of fed agency.... it can legally be used off label at a doctor;s discretion.
immunity is not the same as an immune response
