particularly the part about anonymous forum participants being responsible.
Not too long ago on this forum I would joke with folks even yourself about something like this because on a personal level it is funny.
However, I’ve learned that it really bothers you guys to the point you start endless threads on the culture war. After the laugh and a joke I move on. Cultural conservatives do not.
And for that the cultural conservatives are just the yin to the yang of the cultural Marxists.
Rumours are about that Playboy is to start releasing a pop out magazine - this straight guy won't be buying any pop out gay magazines, thank you very much.
Boy they've stooped a long way down from the days when I would consider myself lucky to find one of their magazines in a neighbors recycling bin and/or find one on a magazine rack that wasn't behind a plastic cover. To be honest I didn't even know they were still around.
One more destruction of something that was represented much of 50's/60's culture.
As a straight woman, part of me is sad, but the other part says, "Who cares?"
I'm a straight man, but I'm also in the "Who cares?" camp.
I did read it, back in the day. And I mean that I actually read it. The photos of the women were nice, but I particularly enjoyed the Playboy Interviews with people famous and infamous; the articles on current music and movies; and the short fiction by both up-and-coming and well-known authors. I wasn't much on the men's fashion and style articles, but my point is that there was a lot more to it than just photos of naked women.
But at some point, it became irrelevant. It couldn't supply anything that anybody couldn't get elsewhere, and usually better. Even its Interviews have been collected in book form, and published. IMHO, it would do well to just stop pretending that it's relevant and influential; and, like Mad Magazine, say, "Hey, we had a great run," and just stop publishing.
So now, it's put a guy who happens to be gay on the cover of its online edition? "Who cares?" indeed.
I agree. They are reaching out to the gay market with this issue.
But with so much material online I think Playboy's days are numbered as is all print material.
As far as I know, Playgirl is still around, (that is for women), or gay men I guess too. Not sure why they didnt just put him on the Playgirl cover?
I doubt many gay men look at Playboy! Im actually surprised this magazine is still around, they cannot have many people buying or subscribing today, thank to free porn online and if you like printed magazines, plenty of hard core magazines out there, Hustler, Oui, etc.
