I was watching a documentary on Jimmy Carter, who I always thought was under-rated, and glad to see that he's now getting more respect while he's still alive. I always thought his situation illustrates America's hypocrisy - people say they want someone honest, truthful, down-to-earth, but although he led the pack with that, people didn't want him for a second term. I've always thought that, in part, he was a victim of Republican low-level "gotcha" attacks - like mocking him for totally irrelevant things like wearing a cardigan or for the encounter with a swamp rabbit.

What is your current opinion of Carter? This can't be exact for everyone, but please pick the answer that's closest to you.

No place for me to vote. I’m an independent- former far right conservative.
Jimmy Carter is my favorite politician of all time. John McCain second.

He ruined the entire nation of Iran and irans future by going against the shah. Terrible president. Iran was on the cusp of being a modern first world nation before the 1979 Iranian revolution but carter got the whole ball rolling on the Iranian revolution with his policies. The shah was ahead of his time and the Iranian people didn't understand his vision for his country. I think the Iranian revolution was one of the most tragic events in modern history. Iran had the greatest potential out of all the Muslim nations in the Middle East. Iran was the jewel of the Middle East at that time. Not anymore.

No, he wasn’t a good president, he wasn’t a bad man, but was in over his head.

I’d trade a 1/2 Jimmy Carter for 10 Joe Biden’s…

If Ted Baxter became a POTUS, he would be Jimmy Carter.

He wasn’t a Saint. He used racist campaigning when a Georgia politician and was silent on civil rights until he wanted the national stage.

That doesn't destroy all of his positives as a human either, but this is always overlooked when glorifying his personality.

Ask the people he had slaughtered in East Timor.

Well, their families anyway.

Was and still is a decent human being.
Still and always will be a lousy President.
But he can thank Biden for dethroning him from the top spot.
