Where does the House get this power?? These people are not qualified to question American citizens like they are criminals. Committees are supposed to bring people in to provide information to help craft legislation, not set them up to be prosecuted as criminals.

The committee was formed. Carries the ability to subpoena witness's. If you have a problem with such a system maybe take a course in how it works. Or keep deflecting. Either way, the committee will move forward.

"Reasonable folk?" Forgive me while I stifle a guffaw.
The "reasonable folk" are ignoring the indisputable fact the the FBI said there was no conspiracy, and that they found no evidence of Trump (or anyone else) inciting a riot. The actual reasonable folks, of course, have known this for a long time because we don't get our news from the MSM.
Meanwhile, your media goes on and on as if the FBI never said this - and still calls it an "insurrection", and you buy it hook, line and sinker. That is not a discerning way to approach the "news". That is, "I open my mouth and turn on the spigot, and the corporate sludge does my body good!"
The truth is the actual "deflection, dodging and weaving" is coming from those who listen to the MSM obfuscate about Trump, in order to try and hide the absolute flaming garbage heap in the wake of the incompetent fool who is actually the President - right now.
So to harp on and on about Jan. 6th, a literally mythical "insurrection", while ignoring the dumpster fire that is Joe Brandon...I dare say that sounds a lot more like "dodging and weaving" to me.
The simple fact is that Steve Bannon is probably going to get away with thumbing his nose at the US House Select Committee on the January 6 riots.
If the House votes to hold Bannon in contempt of their subpoena, the Speaker of the House refers it to the District of Columbia District Attorney for prosecution, who will file charges against Bannon. Bannon will possibly go through a perp walk, face a judge in a hearing, and then be granted bail. After that, it goes through the court system...slowly. And, at the end, a jury of 12 people would need to unanimously decide that Bannon should be convicted. And that entire process could take years.
