Just asking. I've been on my broom a couple years regarding the CCP buying ranch land in the Rio Grande valley.
They intend to put in wind farms. So Texans will be buying electricity from China.
Shame Roy didn't submit his bill when POTUS Trump was in office and the Rs held the house and Senate. What a difference 2 years makes. Maybe it will get traction when DJT is re elected and the Rs take the congress.
Interesting question I asked 30 years ago and got no straight answer.

Will America be owned by China? Or is it already?
Should non-citizens be allowed to own land in the USA and it's territories?

Depends. A Canadian with a vacation house in Florida is a very different story from a Chinese billionaire buying up thousands of homes.
The hell with them let them rent or stay in a hotel. The problem is where do you draw the line? How about having a billion individual Chinese citizens buying up a billion homes or a billion acres of land?

I disagree with this. I owned a Condo in Florida i inherited in an over 55 community. They were a great deal for people without large incomes. A nice community where a 2/1 which when i sold mine 2 years ago sold for under 60k. Over the years the community became more and more empty of year round residents as the units were brought up by Canadians as vacation/summer homes. They also took control of the board and made strict entry requirements on income to buy in. Higher than the majority of Americans collecting Social Security made and from a survey i did of current long term residents none of the existing residents would now qualify to live there. Simply because they did not have enough income, regardless of if they brought outright or had large amounts in the bank. An affordable housing location for the retirement class was taken away by wealthy Canadians who all talked about the great deal they were getting.
