People tend to believe anything when it seems to validate their perceptions.

Then came online tweets like the one posted to this thread.

According to JAX, ATF, Southwest and its Union, there is no truth to any of it.

Southwest Airlines did cancel thousands of flights over the weekend claiming weather related issues.

Ted Cruz wasted no time blaming Biden’s vax mandate for the cancellations.

Subsequent, JAX reported no truth to the online rumors about ATC walk out.

Both Southwest and the Pilot’s Union have made statements denying the internet rumors that the flight cancellations had anything to do with a strike, walk out, or sick calls related to the vaccine.

Unlike other major domestic carriers, Southwest operates point to point , not hub and spoke. As a result, it historically has been more vulnerable to domino flight cancellations due to weather. This one was a doozy.

Unlike other major carriers, Southwest pilots do not belong to ALPA, the largest pilot Union in the world. Instead, Southwest’s Pilot’s Union is unique to Southwest.

No other carrier reported major weather related delays those days.

Southwest and its pilot union have denied the massive flight cancellations have anything to do with a strike, walk out or sick calls.

Commercial carriers are government contractors and as such are required to comply with the mandate. United was the first major carrier to announce it would comply.

Delta chose a different path, for now. It self insures employee healthcare risks and announced it would increase healthcare premiums by $200/ month for unvaccinated employees and did so back in August.

Just crazy, whether this story is true or not, all this angst is because of mandating a vaccine that does not prevent transmission.

Prior to retirement, I flew weekly for decades. I avoided SW because at the time because of its record of flight cancellations and lack of alternative carriers because it often relied on alternative airports.

This is day 5. While things have greatly improved, schedules have not returned to normal for SW.

Biden's about to find out who really runs this country.
Better be careful. I'm pretty sure flying the Gadsden Flag gets you on an FBI list nowadays. Better off with a hammer and sickle flag. FBI doesn't care about those.

Southwest Airlines canceled more than 2,000 flights Friday through Sunday, and hundreds more on Monday because employees called in sick, or refused to sign up for overtime hours over the holiday weekend, a Southwest Airlines pilot told American Greatness.
Southwest blamed “air traffic control issues” and inclement weather for the cancelled flights, but the problems were actually a direct result of the airline’s announcement on October 4 that all of its 56,000 U.S. employees were required be vaccinated against COVID-19 or face termination.

Also, if there is an actual Federal vaccine mandate, why has no government agency issued any rules or guidance around it? It's a mirage designed to provide cover for big business CEO's.

I'm sorry but, I can't see people not getting what they need (which could include medications) as "beautiful".
I don't care what one believes about the vaccine. Everyone would be affected.

And back at the reality ranch, the FAA was seeking accuracy and performance of those planes. Consider it a blessing in the skies if Southwest took it serious on plane repairs and reorganization of it's staffing.
I'm beyond sick (and tired) of the dog wagging the tail.
To be fair to both sides: southwest needed to be transparent from the get go . Not sugar coat this debacle.
And the employees need to be a bit less arrogant.
