I actually prefer almond milk to dairy. Now if someone could make a non-dairy Gouda that tastes like Gouda I'd be in hog heaven.

I haven't been able to buy broccoli in weeks. Two of my favorite flavors for coffee creamers were out of stock for a month. They finally came back, and even the worker stocking the shelves leaned over and told me, "I'd buy as many as you can. What I put up is all we got, and we have no idea when we're getting more of it." Perdue had amazing sale that caused the stores to run out so quick they had to limit how much meat we could buy, and most stores are putting the signs back up regardless of deals.

Ummmm, we were on a great path to being more dependent with producing goods and services in this country under Trump. We also had better trade deals and countries like China finally had to pay their fair share. Your dumbass President and Democratic/Socialist party put a stop to that and made us have to rely on other countries again. We could've had our own pipeline but Biden canceled it, and yet gives Putin a pass for his. And you wonder why OPEC laughed at Biden when he asked them to produce more oil.

Also, it's 2021. Hate it break it you but trade and commerce is what keeps the world turning, not just for the US. We have the means and technology to trade with other countries and can enjoy different foods, cloths, etc. Aren't you always advocating for others to eat healthy? Thought someone like you would appreciate being able to find fresh produce all year round. If you hate that much, eat rotten food I guess?

Is this a joke? Hold your horses there comrade. Why would we? Most Chinese and Thai workers barely make enough to afford food for one day, let alone for a week. They're also stuck under their Government's grip on society and may God help them if they go against the grain. China has been flying fighter planes and happily landing them in Taiwanese airports, flexing their military muscle. Russia recently acknowledged Taiwan as part of China. And with China's real estate market collapsing, don't be surprised if they go to war with Taiwan. They've been taking pages out of Russia's notebook and saw how it worked for them when they were at war with Ukraine a few years back.

My God, please educate yourself. Or move to a socialist country, I don't care. It's really scary to know there's so many people like you living in this country.

LMAOOOOOO you're the last one to talk about common sense. You're clearly one of many in this country who voted with your feelings instead of logic. And why wouldn't you? It's obvious you have a socialist mindset and are cheering for AOC and her "Sqwkad" members to get their Socialist agendas approved so this country can fall apart for your "great reset." Can't wait for 2022 when we knock you clowns out of your seats for the mid-terms!
Where are you in CT? Cause the stores in Danbury are fully stocked as normal....Plenty of broccoli here at multiple stores.

As in Trump's clothing line made in China? laughable.

I see many people downplaying the shortages. But they are an ominous sign and I believe they need to be taken seriously. I have noticed shortages everywhere. What does that look like? For me, when I go to the various grocery stores in my area, I see a 20% decrease in selection/variety (including the grocery store replacing a long-time staple with an alternative because the original is no longer available), overall, and grocery stores are using clever arrangements to cover up bare spots on the shelves.

Are these food shortages impacting my ability to feed myself? Not at all. Are they causing my grocery bill to increase? Yes, some.

I fully expected this situation to be resolved by now, but I see that it is actually getting worse. The fact that it is getting worse now, all these many months later, is what is ominous. The curve trajectory is going the wrong way, and it shouldn't be.

The shortages seem to be worse in non-food items actually.

I too notice people either in denial about shortages, or mocking others for discussing them.

I’d think long and hard before reacting so flippantly to this issue. It’s only a matter of time before we *all* experience a dishwasher broken, with a needed part not available for 20 weeks … a flat tire on a bike that no longer has any spare tires available … a broken furnace with a regulator sensor currently sitting on a container ship … a pharmacy who only has a 10 day supply on hand of your daily blood pressure medication.

It will affect us all in one way or another. You aren’t fooling anyone with your carefree attitude about it all.

At work the company can't really keep us stocked with basic supplies like gloves, ear plugs, cleaning supplies, certain paper products, nor with supplies for the machines we're using. The shortages are real and we're only in the early stages of it too. The media here in VT was talking about a shortage of winter tires. That's kind of dangerous here. https://www.wcax.com/2021/10/11/will...k-this-winter/

Oh yes … tires are certainly going to be an issue over the next year. They are already scrambling. I read that 19” tires are in very short supply. My bicycle uses Kenda Juggernaut tires … can’t find any in stock.

We bought our new house almost a year ago. At that time, we had to choose the appliances we wanted based on what was in the store because most of the displays wouldn't be available for weeks. Now I've heard that people who need a new stove or refrigerator are waiting months. Limited supplies of appliances, and materials for new homes (think tubs, toilets, shower stalls, tile, water heaters, etc) will also have an impact on the "light" construction industry.

I guess there are just some who don't think about all the chain reaction effects...

That's great for Danbury. Hartford/Rocky Hill area is hit or miss for certain items in stores. And what's your point with Trump's clothing line? You speak as if most of your clothes aren't from China or Taiwan.

I can't stand China, but we still do business and trade with them. I'd like for us to slow that down since Xi is clearly a modern day Mao.

So I'm guessing you're one of the few Democrats looking forward to Joe's visit this Friday? At least he's aware of Quinnipiac's latest approval rating of 38%.

BUT, haven't we seen that often in this century and not because of a shortage but because the company was bought out and the new one isn't producing it. Just before, perhaps, we haven't seen it with food.....much.

Once upon a time, my VHS habit was massive. I was buying these things like two a month.
https://www.amazon.com/Capacity-Cass.../dp/B00XNS9B24
They were cheap, $10 a piece, and easy to get. But overnight, they disappeared. Between a change of format and the company selling them being one, they were no long easy to get and when you could find them, they were instantly twice the price.

We live in a world where it is dog eat dog one after another. It is there one day and gone the next.

Carmen wine use to be carried by HEB, long ago, but then it wasn't. The wine is still about but somewhere, the motivation to carry it at HEB disappeared decades ago.

I use to be able to buy whole salmon at $1.97-2.97/lb but then, it suddenly disappeared from the grocery store, I couldn't even special order it. Did the fishing chain collapse? Possibly or did they figure out they could make it more expensive by selling just the fillet? Who knows?

Haven't we seen lots of the familiar disappearing overnight in the past years?
