Yes, I can easily imagine this band of incompetents fretting about Dunkirk in 1941 . . . because the actual evacuation took place in 1940!

Go woke go broke

I just don't understand how anybody believed that it would be transitory. I had democrat fascists in my office telling me "it's transitory, there is no inflation" a few months ago, and these are smart people. Well, I guess not that smart.

The politicians just know that as soon as you admit that there is inflation, people stop supporting printing money for "infrastructure" and "fairness".

A task force? Oh, well then, with Brandon on the case, this problem should be solved . . . oh, I don't know, maybe about the time that the once and future President Trump solves it!

Second, why should I have to name specific rules or regulations that could be relaxed? I’m not part of the Biden administration, nor am I a transportation or logistics expert. But then again, neither is Pete Buttigieg, who was given that role due to his sexuality and not because of any past experience or accomplishments. So I guess your question is valid after all. Let me spend some time on Google and I’ll get back to you; maybe with a better solution than hosting roundtables on Zoom!

Third, I don’t trust anything the Biden administration does, as people from this administration always seem to say one thing, but do the exact opposite. Great, a “task force.” Is this like the issue with the border, where they pretend to act like they are desperately trying to resolve the border issues, yet at the same time they are basically stopping any enforcement of immigration rules?

What a disaster of an administration. Worst I’ve ever seen in my lifetime.
So, like I highlighted - you feel that big daddy .gov should do something, but you have no idea what that might be.

I won't bother addressing the rest of your non sequitur. We'll just agree to disagree that this is a problem for .gov to solve.

I'd prefer to not even have a "task force", but some folks think Uncle Sugar needs to solve all their problems.

Everyone needs to get it together, this is great news. It is the first chance in decades to reshore production. But most of you will see this as gloom because all you care about is cheap goods.

Buttigieg: Supply Chain Issues Will Last 'Years and Years'
You inferred “ doom and gloom”.

I inferred a reality check.

Buttigieg made clear this is a private sector challenge.

Private sector terminal operators lease port space from local governments. On the west coast, there is one powerful longshoremen union. In 2015, nearly half of these union members earned more than $100,000/ year, plus benefits. Typically, longshoremen do not work overnight or weekends. To do so requires OT pay and shift differential which was the dispute between the private sector union and terminal operators.

This link dated 2015 does a decent job of explaining the power of the West coast longshoremen union.

Resolution means the increased cost will be baked into the price paid by consumers.

Next up, are truckers. Not enough of them. Increase compensation and many will choose to work less.

And finally, there’s the issue of warehousing the goods. Again, it’s all about wages.

Appears some who post here seem to advocate for the Federal Government to take over.

Bittigieg made clear supply side challenges will persist for years. And he’s probably right. Covid has and likely will continue to impact global manufacturing.

The good news is that the majority of cargo on these freighters is mostly discretionary stuff, electronics, furniture, lighting, clothing etc. So sorry that spiff new light fixture you covet is on an indefinite back order.

HD, Costco and Walmart anticipated and have chartered their own freighters to transport cargo from the Pacific Rim. Imagine they will use alternative ports ( Canada is likely), their own trucks and their own warehouses.
