Schools really need to go back to the basics...3 R's and leave social issues/social education to the parents.
Disagree. Over focusing on the 3 r’s is already what they are doing. Gym classes cut to force kids to do more basics for state tests. Now child obesity is on the rise. Cut shop classes art music and we end up with a bunch of unoriginal kids who never get to figure out what they excel at and lose understanding of lots of basic life skills. In the meantime computer programs can do more and more of the 3 rs.
When the Covid =19 panic Pandemic ends, when Big Pharma, is investigated it will end. At that time the current administration will make Home Schooling so difficult for a parent to follow its " recommendation's of curriculum " the H.S. network will collapse under regulations of Social programs .eg CRT.

No one hates government school more than me, but I kind of agree with the teacher.
What he is saying is, we have two choices. Either education should be democratic(majority-rule), or it should be technocratic(specialists making decisions).
I don't believe anyone is in favor of direct democracy(especially not in education). Plus the entire idea of America is that the common people should elect people smarter and better than them to make all their decisions for them.
A large percentage of these parents don't have their own ___ together. Why would we expect them to be able to take care of their kids?
That's why we've created a 12 year babysitting service with free breakfast and lunch and call it school.

Odd to find Teachers who Do NOT want parents involved in the education of their children.
School Boards are elected and responsible to those who elect them.
Teachers are responsible for education and want to parents to pay their salaries.
Cutting parents out and saying they NOW have no say in anything and IF they choose to say anything, we will consider them "domestic terrorists" and send the FBI to investigate them
appears to be very Counter Productive and it's not going to be a popular position to be in.
