But the Florida attitude seems to be--Who Cares?
We’re glad too. Stay in your deep blue state wearing a cloth mask for the rest of your life. Thank you!

I think you just unwittingly proved that Florida cops are paid about the same as other states based on cost of living.

So, per your own link cops in Massachusetts for example make $48K and just $41K in Florida.

CNN says making $50K in Boston, MA is like making $38.5K in Miami.

CNN says making $50K in Pittsfield, MA is like making $46K in Cape-Coral/Fort Meyers.

They will spend less on training which saves money. They will hire experience which will save money. You should take some business courses. It'll help you understand things better.

Sorry, but at my age it makes sense to wear a good mask when you're in with other people and there's a pandemic going on. I love New England and enjoyed FL back in the day.

Who is going to walk away from that for $5,000?
The average salary for Chicago police officers is $61,600. Given our property taxes, cost of gasoline, and the cost of risking ones life every day, Florida probably looks pretty damn good.

How is he wasting taxpayer money? He’s filling positions that he can’t fill and he’s getting trained officers. Tourism is huge and a lack of policing isn’t a good draw.

I don't know if that calculator adjusted for the difference in state and local taxes. In FL your state income tax is $0, no matter how much you make. In New York City you could be paying up to ~7% to the state and 3-4% to the city. If it doesn't, add between 5 and 10% to the figure from that calculator to figure in taxes.

The benefit of living among people who actually appreciate what police officers do versus the ungrateful elite snobs in blue states has to be worth at least $20K a year to most cops.
