On the fringes of the Catholic Church is a group of people called “sedevacantists”. They do not believe the Church has a valid Pope and is thus in a state of apostasy. The last Pope they consider valid is disputed. Some say is was Benedict XVI. Others may go all the way back to Pius XII, who died in 1958.
If you believe Biden or any past President is illegitimate, isn’t the logical conclusion that their opponents were or are the actual President?

Both popes and presidents are elected. Popes by an enclave of bishops, presidents by the general population. Popes have been elected the same way for centuries, by secret ballot. I suppose there could be some kind of conspiracy but there have always been favorites. With such a relatively small group electing a pope I don't think there is much chance for fraud like there can be in a general election.

I don't know how there can be an illegitimate pope unless he wasn't Catholic. It sounds to me like this group just doesn't like or approve of some of them.

It’s typically the ones who think Vatican II led the Church down the road to perdition.

From the last sentence I was wondering if this was started as the next 'get hillary in office' instrument...

..if you wanna do a deep dive on the Catholic church and it's popes read Michael Hoffman's stuff, most of his good stuff is off amazon but i little poking around you'll find it...he's written a half dozen or so books on the subject, very research intense...as a result has been labeled an 'enemy of the church'..

...a couple years ago i read, "Usury in Christendom: The Mortal Sin that Was and Now is Not"...there's lots the everyday catholic is in the dark about, pretty wild stuff he gets into...
