A school board member in Florida is being criticized after saying she was "honored" to chaperone a group of elementary school students on a field trip to a gay bar.
Broward County School Board member Sarah Leonardi said she took the children of Wilton Manors Elementary School to Rosie's Bar & Grill on what appeared to be an annual field trip, according to a Wednesday social media post by Leonardi.
"I was SO honored to be invited to chaperone Wilton Manors Elementary's field trip to the incredible Rosie's!" she posted to Facebook with pictures. "The students and I had a fun walk over and learned a lot about our community! A huge thank you to Rosie's Bar and Grill for hosting this special field trip every year!"
I could see why people would be concerned taking kids to a bar, but it actually says "Bar and Grill", so it's really just a restaurant that serves drinks. Would it have been better for you if they took the kids to Applebees or TGIFridays?
I would not get hung up on the bar aspect. They have some great looking food too.
And if you look over there children it’s a couple guys giving each other handjobs under the table. Liberals are so delusional, treating gay people like a zoo/circus exhibit now. What’s next trips to the ghetto to learn the other side of their white privilege. Back in my day we went to Zoos, Museums , and parks.
Regardless of if it is a gay bar or not. This place calls itself a "bar and grill", but that doesn't mean it is "family-friendly" or appropriate for elementary school kids. Based on the menu it doesn't sound like kids are a common clientele.
I would question what about the parents? How was this "field trip" described to the parents? Did they know this was the destination? Did they know they were going to "Rosie's Bar and Grill" or "Rosie's"? Did they know that the kids would be learning about "our community"? What exactly did the kids learn? Did they give this woman approval to post their kid's picture on Facebook(or whatever it is called now)?
If they knew fully what the trip was about and still gave their approval, then that is really their choice. It will be interesting to see if anything else is discovered with this.
I'm assuming their parents signed a permission slip allowing this.
Yeah, we all know what would happen to parents who didn't sign/allow their kids to be brought to such an establishment. Pressured into signing/allowing their kids to go.

There is a risk, but it's Florida, so I had some hope.
