Looks like pilots and crew will have to learn and to remember to use all of the terms that the radical left demands be used. It would seem like that would be extremely distracting for the pilots and their crew.
Aaaand, people are screaming that the one time use of one simple little phrase is distracting....
As much as I agree that the current president (and adminstation as a whole) is an embarassment, there's nothing at all 'innocent' about that expression... and the pilot was out of line. His job is to fly the plane, not provide polictical commentary.
The pilot is a NASCAR fan, nothing wrong with that..
He should have, and probably did, receive a round of applause but the Marxist reporter doesn't mention that..!

They were insulting the flag, which is a representation of the United States. I would say that insulting the flag is worse than insulting the president.
For a few years there I was averaging close to 150,000 air miles a year. I can tell you I have heard many pilots lighten the mood with a little humor. I have also heard the ones so dry they might blow away in a breeze.
Sterile zone rules are specifically for the times surrounding take off and landing because those times require significantly higher concentration levels from flight crews. If the pilots haven't fired up the engines yet or are at cruising altitude, then they have more leeway to get chatty.
Hearing reports of Delta pilots in Charlotte over the weekend cheekfully welcoming folks who are normally American flyers to their airline and hoping that some of them will decide to stick with them for Delta's better operational reliability. Which may not e the best thing to say since all airlines will have their own meltdowns at different times but it wasn't in sterile zone parameters, so it's allowed.
