Her body was located in the park Wednesday afternoon concealed under a tarp, wheelbarrow, and railroad ties. An investigation at the scene indicated Graber had “suffered inflicted trauma to the head”, according to criminal complaints filed in Jefferson County Thursday afternoon.

Alabama has the death penalty and will use it. It still continues to be among the top 5 states for murder. Fairfield, AL is essentially a violent rust belt town outside of Birmingham. Birmingham, at 52 murders per 100,000, has a murder rate comparable to Baltimore.

I didn't read the article. I heard Fairfield and Jefferson County. I only one place with a Fairfield in Jefferson County, in Alabama.

And if this is Iowa, it's rather surprising. Iowa has both a very low murder rate and no death penalty..

Death penalty is effective revenge (not deterrent)
