Why should they pay income tax when they had no income?
But he has to pay something, he owns things!! /s
I don't begrudge anyone working hard and building wealth, in fact, that is exactly what society should be applauding. I begrudge the greedy and envious that want my money.
What's even more insulting is that the 50% who pay no federal income tax sucks up the vast majority of federal welfare dollars.
Imagine that welfare benefits go to people who don't make very much money and need some assistance. Were you thinking that those benefits should only go to highly paid people?

Stop telling the 39% that pay for EVERYTHING to pay their fair share then.
They get a tax DEDUCTION for the amount they contribute to charity. Is is not just a giveaway.
Correct. They reduce their federal income tax by giving to charity. Maybe 40 or 50 cents on the dollar. Charitable giving is like a tax and they should be given credit for it.
That's the problem. ONLY looking at income taxes doesn't make sense. The wealthy and ultra wealthy don't pay their fair share relative to the wealth they control.
I worked in wealth management for years, managing money for the wealthy and ultra wealthy. I know more about financial accounting and wealth management than most people on this forum. We need a wealth tax on the wealthy (who don't pay their fair share) and we need tax breaks for lower income earners. That's been my point all along.
61% of people pay ZERO federal income taxes. Those aren't higher earners and you know it.
