Biden won because so many truly hated Trump, not because Biden in anyway represented a good choice. He was just someone other than Trump.
Trump does as well as he does because a certain segment of the population are tired of being labeled racist, sexist, xenophobes simply because they disagree with the left.
If Trump had even tried to behave in an adult civilized manner he would have achieved a great deal. Instead he acts like a 10 year old spoiled boy with impulse control issues and skin about as thick as an onion's. He made it a point to alienate anyone who didn't agree with his every thought.
So profoundly true you are. Once again, if only Trump had said he learned a lot from Reagan, rather than from Nixon, he would still be president.
But it's a matter of fact that most people in Congress, including Democrats,don't support socialism. If they did, the big controversy would have been voting over Medicare For All not infrastructure.
And wouldn't Sanders have been a better candidate for socialism?
Trump had no policies. It was always whatever his gut told him. There was nothing coherent about any of his presidency. He couldn't create policy because he never spent the time to actually learn and come up with policies. His main policy was to make himself, his family, and his friends richer, and to get the average guy to adore him, and feed his massive ego.
Really, I'll never forget it back when on Fox News Hannity during an interview asked him what his 2nd term policies would be like. Trump simply mouthed off a non-answer totally unrelated. I knew further why I couldn't be wrong and foolish enough to vote for him.
Trump, no doubt, knew how to try to use people but only to his advantage. Notice how he didn't pardon anybody charged with the Jan. 6 uprising before he left office.

How about a president and his party that first lies, and then says things like "our patience is wearing thin" and "I gave you until July to get the vaccine" and then cheers people getting fired for not bending to his will.

I actually can agree with this. Socialism means the nationalizing of industry. We haven't heard a peep from Biden or Pelosi about nationalizing, say, the oil industry.
Today's Dems are not really socialists, with the exception of a few such as Bernie and AOC. What they really are is a party of pelf (ill-gotten gains). They have become a party of codified corruption.
They know that capitalism is their golden goose, and they do not wish to kill it, just to steal some of its eggs.
