no one brought restraints, and the pretend gallows was to small to even string up Hervé

Nah, Belarus is an authoritarian, Putin-allied state. As a freedom-loving right winger, I would not fit in there. Perhaps a left-wing 'bureaucat' such as yourself would find Belarus more inviting. I'm sure they have plenty of bureaucracy there, and I hear Minsk is really nice two months out of the year.

In reality the converse is true.

As of August 2021:

Some who have defended Capitol rioters –– who attacked federal lawmakers over the false election claims made by Trump–– have compared the deadly insurrection to the protests against police killings of Black people and centuries of ongoing racial oppression.
The property damage or accusations of arson and looting from last year's BLM marches, were serious and they were dealt with seriously, but they weren’t an attack on the very core constitutional processes that we rely on in a democracy, nor were they an attack on the United States Congress.

This thread is about the Capitol insurrection and the sentences that are finally being handed down. Not to mention, the attempted diversion and distraction by the above poster is based on a flawed argument. Nice try but no cigar.
Classic apples-to-oranges comparison. I heard a local pundit just today point out that there were 36 murders associated with the 2020-2021 BLM/Antifa riots. There were 2 or three fatal shootings in the Seattle Chop/chaz zone alone, during a 6 week period.

There was only one shooting during the Jan 6 riots, and that was by a Capitol Hill cop.

There were dozens of cops injured by various thrown objects such as frozen water bottles, clearly intended for purposes of pre-meditated violence, during the BLM/Antifa riots.

Great Post! but they want to bury that and keep talking about Jan/6th. You have sellouts Republicans joining Democrats like Liz Cheney full of b.s. but she is crickets demanding a Senate investigation on the BLM violent mess and the people in power that told police to stand down while cities burn but she is for the constitution. The b.s. on her is astonish.

Punching a cop is a no go. No sympathy here. If only BLM would be held to the same standards.

I feel a threat should be treated as a threat as they may run parallel to self-defense to include against a police officer.

If a person feels threatened and acts in self-defense against police officers; I would suggest the law afford leniency against the so-called defender. (E.g. officers breaches your door at 0200 [wrong house as the address was off a couple
digits.. unfortunately everyone has heard of this type of blunder) and the defender/ homeowner eliminates each threat entering said home; the homeowner should never receive a charge.

Certainly this was not the case for the fellow receiving 41 months and I wish all members associated with 6 January's rogue and thuggish terroristic acts receive awards identical to the 41 months.
What about the cops who let them in? How long should they serve?

US Capitol rioter gets 5 years in jail after throwing fire extinguisher at police

(CNN)A Florida man who enthusiastically attacked police at the US Capitol on January 6 with a fire extinguisher, a wooden plank and a pole was sentenced to more than five years in prison on Friday, the longest sentence for a Capitol rioter thus far.

Robert Scott Palmer is the first person to be sentenced for the felony of assaulting an officer with a dangerous weapon. His 63-month sentence could set a benchmark for the more than 140 others who face the same charge.

What if the cop punched you first for no reason and was reaching for his taser? You gonna sit there and let them have at it, being the celebrities they are?

Doctors screw up and get sued, as do nurses. No one is infallible.

That boy screwed up bigtime. But at least he admits it.

The 54-year-old wept as he told U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan that he recently watched a video of his actions that day and was horrified

U.S. Capitol rioter gets 41 months in prison, longest sentence imposed so far
Was he charged with insurrection??????

Since when does the left have an issue with punching cops????????????

Guy using a sledge hammer to break into a senator's office, not related to Jan 6th, was released and his sledge hammer returned???????

It is the likes of pelosi, schumer and nadler who have desecrated the capitol.

This was the reason insane Nancy surrounded the capitol with 25K troops for months???????????????

stage play by democrats injecting dramatic subtitles and captions to excite the audience!
