Better-educated conservatives and Republicans have sought to abandon the GOP's "ship of fools" and join the Libertarians for years.

But realpolitik, as opposed to ideolological politics, is a team sport; you can't get very far unless you know a thing or two about coalition-building.

There are a lot of people out there who are turned off by the nihilism of the "progressives"-- not to mention the depravity of some of the leadership. If they find some solace in a more-simplistic expression of their faith, it's their privrelege; but when they try to link those absolutist tenets to the near-monopoly that is "public education", they often get a hard lesson of their own. Most parents -- not to mention their families -- are not that closed-minded.

The ultimate remedy is to privatize all education, with a voucher system for the less-fortunate. but I can assure you that the NEA will fight the loss of its (undeserved) power to the last ditch.

So much for the First Amendment and education, right? Where is the right wing uproar about this? Oh, wait, it's the right wing who complained about these books.

Why is this a thing now? A right wing Texan (State Rep. Matt Krause (R-Ft Worth)), wants to ban 850 books!

Isn't this the antithesis of what Americans were taught and thought?
Kansas? Are you talking about this?

https://www.kcur.org/news/2021-11-10...-library-books

"WICHITA, Kansas — The Goddard school district reversed its decision to remove nearly 30 books from circulation in its libraries after receiving national pushback from authors and free speech advocates."

"The email to Goddard families on Wednesday said a parent “had questions about language and graphics from a specific book” their child had checked out in September. The parent then submitted a list of 28 books, met with the building principal and filled out a “request for review” form with the school, the email said."

A "district" does not include the entire state.

https://fox4kc.com/news/parents-stud...ool-libraries/

There was also an issue in a district in North Kansas City, but I am not aware of any others. And, to assume the anything in the Wichita area is GOP, not necessarily.

We all know that reading is important in ferreting out the facts.

That's quite the fairy tale you surmised from somewhere. Why?

Well I guess it depends on what books we are talking about. I get a kick out of progressives who come up with something radically left, and then if moderates/conservatives want to undo the damage, the left claims they are going against their own principles.
So if the school puts in books promoting trannys/LGBT-XYZ's into middle school, then parents should fight that.
You do not see moderates/conservatives attacking the classics, rather they want to rid modern day indoctrination/propaganda out of the schools/libraries. That is especially true of children's books.

The far right and far left have a lot in common. Just each side justifies it differently and thinks the OTHER guys are the fascists.

Well pretty much. But only one party wants to radically transform America and that’s why I would vote accordingly if voting actually mattered but it doesn’t as long as we have policies that destroy our Republic.

The left did that years ago. So I guess they get a taste of their own medicine now. Sucks, huh?
