This is just opinion, of course, but comparing metro areas to rural areas in Colorado, generally speaking, is like comparing kittens and crocodiles. But, yes, there are many beautiful areas in Colorado -- but I personally don't include any large Colorado cities in that category.

I guess no different than many other states.

Perhaps so. And Colorado isn't a particularly violence state, especially when compared to states like Louisiana and Illinois. However, Denver proper certainly has some rough neighborhoods. Denver has long had Crips and Bloods. Aurora, to the east of Denver, has some gangs too.

As a south metro resident, I will offer that if one only reads the paper, Denver seems very dangerous, but despite the front page coverage of this incident, the Front Range is a very pleasant and generally safe place to live. I don't spend any sleepless nights worrying about mass shootings.

Two people, likely students were shot in an Aurora High School parking lot today, just a few miles from the shooting on Monday. I’m thinking this may be a gang war playing out.

Today's shooting is only about a mile from the last. I won't be surprised to learn that the incidents are related.
