You seem to be saying American liberals are not in favor of capitalism.
For a long time I disagreed with conservatives labeling all liberals as communists. I thought they were just exaggerating and hurling insults. But your post seems to suggest those characterizations are accurate.
I am a full on capitalist. Most Americans live and work as capitalists. How can you not? Look at all the rich people donating to the Democratic party. Are they not capitalists?
Europe is capitalist.
The question is do we want a country run by hedge fund managers and an immigration system design to circumvent trained labor in the United States?
If a country is "richer" than another is a meaningless metric. The more important metric is happiness and freedom. Using happiness as a metric, the US has a LONG way to go to catch up with Europe. Similarly, using freedom as a metric, the US has a long way to go to catch up with Europe as well.
happiness is also a meaningless metric
yep so much healthier and happy...that they commit suicide more than the usa in EVERY AGE bracket

If we look at the chart the GDP per capita of Sweden is lower than some of the poorest US states.
Conservatives probably celebrate this as the triumph of American capitalism and free market innovation. And of course they think it is 100% accurate.
There are two problems: first, GDP is measured based on the US dollar so if the Euro falls in comparison it would look like these economies are in decline. Second GDP does not calculate societal well being or the distribution of the wealth.
The USA is 21.1 per 100,000 people while the highest European country (Norway) is 5 per 100,000 people.
What conservatives want is a country were multinational corporations drown in excess dollars from manufacturing abroad while the people die of drug overdoses and kill themselves.
That is the American way to these people. That is what makes us Richer.
Think China just beat us - so we are numero 2 now. So yes.
Europeans live in smaller houses, drive smaller cars and buy less consumer items than Americans.
They usually pay more in taxes as well.
But in return they have universal health coverage, better public transportation, better public schools, and possibly better infrastructure depending on the country.

I love how the leftists always drag out a Scandinavian country as their example of what is better than the lousy ol USA.
This time...it is Sweden.
There are poor and miserable people in Sweden. Probably many in debt and at one time, another Scandinavian country (Finland) was at the top of the suicide list as far as countries with the highest suicide rates.
Most American's view of Sweden and most Scandinavian countries is probably circa 1985. These countries have changed quite a bit in the recent decades.
