Perot got around 17% of the vote in 1992. Clinton won with 43%. It was Perot.

When Perot started siphoning Dem votes, he got out. Then he got back in again.

It was Perot.

Check the approval ratings. Take Perot out of that election, and Clinton landslides GHWB. Perot saved the GOP a humiliating defeat.

That was 30 freakin years ago.

Neither Party is even close to where it was back then. I also knew a lot of Conservative Parents (I was a kid) back then who voted for Perot. I am pretty sure Perot took more votes away from Bush than Clinton.

If you have proof otherwise, so be it. Color me skeptical.

But the MAGA Republican Party, and the Woke Democrat Party are not the same as their incarnations from 20/30/40 years ago.

Bush was a disaster. He went in high because of his former boss. And he got a bump for desert storm. That’s it. The rest was muddied water.
Also helps that ole Bubba was very charismatic back in the day. I remember the JFK comparisons because of his youth and energy. He went on MTV and wowed the young crowd with his “hipness”. Then Bush tried to do the same and only came across as desperate and boring. Bush was simply a dud.

Much of the rest are a bunch of Marjorie Taylor Greene conspiracy theorist types who only offer rudeness and crudeness and nothing else.

Nope. MAGA offers rudeness and crudeness to the Liberal Elites, while putting forward America First policies.

I bet dollars to doughnuts the majority of Americans right now would take back the "mean tweets" to reverse Biden's calamitous reign. Count on it.

Democrats would never give into this because it would greatly diminish their power, but dare to dream!
You need 5% of the vote to be recognized as a political party and get Fed $$$ for campaigning.

The D's and R's work very hard to make sure no other party gets 5%.
Libertarians have only gotten 3.25% in their best year.

Now the socialists/progressives are also in the same boat. But they decided to run under the Dem ticket and take over the Dem party. DSA...Democratic Socialists of America. Over 170 of them voted in various offices and now enough in Congress to cause some friction.

So there won't be any new third party until the voters actually vote for one.

FWIW I've been voting Libertarian since 2000 in every Presidential election in hopes that a third party would emerge.
