So, what's the best way to defend yourself from thugs when walking out the door and into the streets? To openly carry a long arm, like Rittenhouse did, or do it with a concealed handgun?
Whatever it takes to get the job done I guess. Why would it matter, so long as it's in self defense and only the criminals are put down?

I'm a concealed carry guy. I don't want anyone to know I'm armed. It would have set me up as a target for a start plus I would lose the element of surprise. In fact, exposed carry was illegal anyway.

Agreed, but in the US open carry of handguns and long guns is legal in almost all states, and with or without a permit.
Stop watching Fox news. You wont get the truth there. In 40+ years of owning guns, they have not once got up and shot anybody. Its the idiot people and their values, or lack of them.
I'm sure won't likely believe this but I have NEVER watched Fox news. Ever. Not once.
I may have seen a snippet here or there of things people have posted that originated there but I have never steered my sights there. Ever.
Since the blm bs started a few years ago I have bought a new handgun and a 9MM carbine. I just ordered me a gun safe where I can keep them in. I made sure it was big enough in case I buy some more guns.
Being retired Army and civilian law enforcement, I’ve been teaching several family members on the safe handling of firearms and basic marksmanship skills.
If you’re new to firearms, I highly recommend taking an actual firearms class and go to the range, at least once or twice a year, if not more. IMHO, firearm ownership is a huge responsibility and something that shouldn’t be taken lightly.
Remember, you are still responsible for every bullet that leaves the barrel of your gun for both better and worse.
On a side note, shooting a gun isn’t like in the movies, so don’t learn firearms safety from Hollywood since they’re not even safe in a controlled environment…. Learn from a professional or a highly skilled person…. Please!!
A gun to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ......
....not a Christian here, but that just seems way wrong to me.
