It might sound like a flippant question, but I assure you it's not. I am not an anti-vaxxer, having had two jabs myself.

The question is this:
1. As most organisms, the viruses mutate randomly, but these mutations are just "noise" in the face of the dominant strain.
2. No vaccine is 100% effective (no argument on this point, I hope).
3. Because the vaccines are developed to fight the dominant strain, that strain is largely neutralized but some of the mutations survive.
4. Over time, the mutations that are both the most transmissible and the most different from the strain that the vaccines are fighting will become the new dominant strain.

So, vaccines are partly responsible for the emergence of new virus variants. The natural immunity will also tend to fight the old virus and allow the new virus to take hold, but I'd think many more people have been vaccinated (in the US, at least) than have had Covid-19, although we don't have the data on the latter.

Is there a flaw in this logic? I'd like to hear from the specialists on the matter.

The new variant, Omicron: B.1.1.529, originated in Africa. That continent has a very low covid vaccine rate as you can see on this map. In this case your theory doesn't hold.

A virus is a little like a wild fire, as long as there are unvacinated people there will be fuel for the fire. Covid will always exist and mutate in the unvacinated.

Yes, vaccines cause disease. You heard it here first. Someone notify the Nobel committee!

Delta originated in almost completely unvaccinated India and this new one in largely unvaccinated Africa.

Yet the unvaccinated are healthy while the vaccinated are not

For one whole year everyone cowered over one single variant. Then almost immediately after the vaccines were introduced, we’ve had endless coinciding variants.

It was actually discovered in South Africa to be specific which has high vaccination rates, but keep in mind it was found in individuals who just came back from europe.
