Another good argument for getting rid of govt schools. With education fully privatized, curriculum becomes a concern of faculty and parent, and not society at large.
Most people won’t be able to afford their kids to school. Let alone if they have multiple kids.
You say "ban on teaching any aspect of civil rights history," but your quote says just "several civil rights-focused books." Are you misrepresenting their position. Is it possible they object to specific books for a specific reason as opposed to what you claim?
Mission statement from their website.
"
Moms for Liberty is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization. The organization's mission is to organize, educate and empower parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government."
I would have liked a follow up question for her claim that it doesn't speak to the good and makes children feel ashamed.
Wit and Wisdom is just general guidelines I would like to know the specific teaching content for Ruby Bridges Goes to School on which she has an issue.
I tried to find the teaching guide ot read for myself, but you have to pay for the power points and pdfs. I'm not willing to give them my money to do that.

Private school tuition can get ridiculously expensive depending on where you live and also be a pressure cooker and headache just to get a slot.
I am all for public schools, especially in the K-12 range.
As far as these books are concerned I remember learning all about this and seeing those dreadful images of the firehoses and dogs,..etc. But that was in High school. I probably would not introduce this stuff to second graders. Let them be kids and learn the basics.
Also,..parents need to be part of their kid's education as well. If my kid comes home with some nutty agenda disguised as homework I will be sure to call it out and make sure my kid knows where the facts end and the opinion begins.
Ever see a poll that asks if you like warm, cuddly speckled puppies? there will always be a percent that does not like speckled puppies. And every conceivable issue you might poll has a contingent that stand opposed. The opposition to an issue does not a movement make.
Eric holder under obama, said the greatest threat to america is domestic terrorists. the media has done its best to promote obscure groups, making them larger than they really are, or smaller when it supports their political agenda as with antifa and BLM.
So, some mom's want edu to focus on reading writing, arithmetic, geography. science and world, US and local history to the exclusion of social justice indoctrination. What's wrong with that given the US position in education on a global basis?
SO like the media to cherry pick a sentence and run it up the flag pole as a fire siren.
Take away, moms are bad in general, parents should not have a say in their children's edu and only the government knows what's best. Sage advice, 'It takes a village to raise to a child' have been distorted to support the socialists anti family effort to boost their authoritative regime.
She is not protesting poor math, science and English scores, she is taking exception to this on part of the curriculum. Besides I wouldn't blame teachers for bad scores, blame the parents.
Steenman: Yes. Again, I don't have any particular problem with this book. I would probably let my second grader, when she was at that age, read this book. It is just how it is taught. You are taking this experience and you are highlighting the fact that she was courageous and she caused real change in this country. All this curriculum highlights is the mean white people. And it speaks to nothing of the good. And that is how you, at the end of the day, you have taken a wonderful story and you have presented it in a way that makes some children feel ashamed of the past as if they are responsible for it, and some children to feel like they are still victims.
I somewhat agree with this. We should be teaching children about class war, not just race war. Certainly there have been plentiful cases of white workers mistreating minorities, but ultimately they're not the ones making real decisions about society. There's a certain amount of blame-shifting happening on behalf of Capital.
