What is your theory as to why Americans live shorter than people in other advanced countries?

Americans are FAT do not EAT RIGHT, and do not EXERCISE. Then Americans expect the healthcare system to fix them.

Most other countries seem to give mini-portions when you order food there.
Most other countries don't have enough food or clean drinking water. I'm going to complain for living in a country that has plenty of food and choices? We are all going to die, does it matter to you if you live 1 or 2 years longer at what expense?

1) No time or money for healthy food. Longer hours and lower wages (compared to other advanced countries) take their toll.

2) We also have a for-profit healthcare system, which naturally leads to bad outcomes. Profit takes priority over good medical practices.

3) Regulatory capture by Big Food, Big Beverage, and Big Pharma.

4) The widespread belief in American Exceptionalism, which blinds Americans to the reality of 1, 2, and 3. Any alternatives are immediately dismissed as socialism.

That's generalizing. Many are fit and can kick your butt but that doesn't prevent you from dropping dead on a treadmill or lifting weights or getting cancer. You can do everything "right" and drop dead before you are 60.

Most are not...you must not get out much or you do not look around. Americans are FAT.

None of these are true. People seem to have enough money to by cars they don't need and to sit in fast food lines every day. Look at the explosion of prepared food in grocery stores.

You can in theory but we don't lol. It's difficult because of regulatory capture; once corporations reach a certain amount of wealth it becomes much easier for them to outbid the public for the loyalty of politicians and subvert the whole apparatus. Things were better decades ago with stricter anti-trust policies, but those have been gradually hollowed out by the Free Market lapdogs and gave us the situation today. Big Ag and Big Pharma are every bit as bad as Big Tobacco, but all the regulatory functions designed to control them are headed by Ag/Pharma executives respectively, and their paid-for friends.

Well that explains the North Korean life expectancy of 72.27, which is more than 10 years less than their neighbors to the south.
