100% social media deep fries the brain.
And totally upped the ante on bullying, peer pressure, social acceptance, etc…
So yeah, I put a lot of blame on SM.

I virtually eliminated my social media presence a couple years ago and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I have ZERO regrets for closing my Facebook account. ZERO.
There is already an interesting thread on this. I can't find it or else I would post the link. School shootings have been going on for hundreds of years. The first recorded one in the USA was in 1764. 4 American Indians entered a school and shot and killed the schoolmaster and ten children. I don't know how old any of the involved were.

Yes but look at how frequent they became after Columbine. That was when the school shooting floodgates opened and the gates never closed.
There was a time when postal workers were walking into work and shooting their supervisors. It even spawned the saying "Going Postal". I wonder what the PO did to stop this because the schools should do the same thing.
Why would someone choose to take a gun to work or school? The answer is pressure from the constant grind and push to always do more to bullying and the ultimate acceptance of failure. The person cracks under the strain.
Of course we now have more guns then we did 20 years ago and they are a highly efficient way to murder someone but given the most recent school shooting the kid could have just as easily stolen the family car and driven it into a crowd of kids waiting to get on the school bus.
The main problem today is the media and a mass shooting is perfect for their ghoulish "if it bleeds it leads" narrative.
A mass shooting also fits the Left's anti gun agenda and sparks the debate about banning guns but when some deranged person runs people over with their red SUV there is no talk about banning trucks?
When a USPS employee went "postal" it was often due to PTSD and it might just be the root cause of why kids do.
The red flags are often there but they are not acted on.
Because that is when our culture started to become weak to become soft to become the social media whores that they are today. Rather than just hand yourself in a closed or blow your own brains out it became Hollywood to go out in a blaze of chaos.
It's the combination of things including social media, ssris and 'old' school issues of bullying, wanting to belong or left alone and peer pressure wether it's wearing the latest fashion statement or listening to the same music. Technology just brings that combination together a little quicker.
The first school shooting I remember was in 1989. Patrick Purdy in Stockton. The AK 47 became the demon of choice after that.
Notice how the AK47 is NEVER even mentioned anymore, when the gun control topic comes up or gun crime is being discussed?! Gee I wonder why that is? LOL
Instead proponents of more gun control prefer to go after the weaker AR15 and guns like that. LOL
