Dr. Barbara Ferrer the public health director who is a doctor of social policy is counting down to implement a mask mandate based on hospitalizations.
Sort of bizzare how Dr. Barabara Ferrer who is the Public Health Director is counting down to implement her mask mandate yet physicians who work at the county hospital are making claims of """this morning, we have no one in the hospital who had pulmonary disease due to COVID."
Yet after she started her mask mandate countdown, physicians at USC+LAC had a press conference and claimed ""this morning, we have no one in the hospital who had pulmonary disease due to COVID."
To summarize what she said/seeing which matches what I've been saying all along
Only 10% of COVID hospitalizations were hospitalized because of COVID, the other 90% were discovered to have COVID there incidentally.
Out of those 10%, almost none are ending up in the ICU. The one's who are, are not being intubated. They're not going to the ICU for pneumonia but rather autoimmune issues (which possibly could be due to COVID) or hydration/nutrition issues (electrolyte imbalance).
Folks, this is good news. No one is dying from this virus anymore. Given how many people have it, and how little people are dying, the influenza viruses are now many times more severe.

I don't think that you mean 'all along', referring to the early Pandemic. Early in the Pandemic almost all hospital admits were because of the bug, not incidental. This began to change a bit the first summer. Then more drastically with the more benign Omicron.
Also I wouldn't yet say that Influenza viruses are more severe, because Covid caused hospitalizations and deaths are still very much elevated over more typical Influenza years. Here in the USA Covid deaths are still roughly 3X Influenza.

All along in the sense since the emergence of Omicron.
And you need to divide all numbers by 10 for Omicron. 90% of the hospitalization data is incidental according to that doc. It's probably even more skewed for deaths as per same doc, of the 10%, barely any are progressing to the ICU due to Omicron (BA.5 now).
Yeah, this whole "wave" is really getting out of hand. Hospitals are no where near on the brink like in 2020. I am absolutely astounded that we're panicking or even talking about mask mandates at this point.
