During puberty, the menstrual cycle is highly irregular. Someone this young wouldn't know they are pregnant until it was too late to get a legal and safe abortion. Rape victims often don't report, 3 out of 4 sexual assaults are not reported.
This should improve sexual assault reporting. It's an incentive to report quickly and pregnancy tests would then be done automatically. I feel bad for the girl in this case.

The magistrate said a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold has been placed on Leon-Gomez, which means if he posts bail he would be remanded to the agency’s custody.

Juan Leon-Gomez wouldn't be raping 11-year-olds in the US if we were actually preventing illegals from coming here in the first place.
