Which is on the CEO for firing via Zoom and not thinking for a minute that someone would possibly leak the video whether it was legal or not or ruin their NDA for their severance package. The CEO should be fired for being a total dope.

Under normal circumstances I would agree with you, but with so many people working remote because of COVID it's harder to do one on one meetings. Having said that, one time during a mass layoff I was just handed an envelope package that had a written form letter from HR and severance benefit information and there was no communication with management. They did that to lessen the risk of personal confrontations between managers and affected employees.

In most states they cannot file for unemployment benefits until their severance pay period has expired, so four weeks in this case. Many companies are hiring and not just lower level job positions, so they should be fine unless they just choose not to work and stay on unemployment for a while.

It depends on their local and if they can find stuff that is telework. I mean some people actually like to work from home now. That was part of the "Great Resignation" that many politicized as an F-U to Biden's vaccine mandate did not talk about.

Absolutely agree. Many people will only accept work at home positions now and my company has actually lost very good employees that no longer wanted to come into the office, so they quit.

Our numbers have never been better. They get me for another hour a day cause I don't have to commute.

Although harsh, when I got fired a few years ago, I had security from the office complex escort me out in front of all my co-workers. That was the most humiliating experience I've ever had.
