if a person wants to work part-time, less than 40 hours a week, there are already jobs available in america that offer 4 days or less per week such as nurses and firefighters.

Full time in some places is considered 37.5 hours a week; Teachers don't work 40 hours a week every month of the year - the point here is those salaries are not "cut". Gross salary stays the same while the hourly rate likely goes up.

There are many studies that show the reduced work week can increase productivity. Many other countries (and believe me, I don't like using other countries as examples of anything for the US) already offer more vacation and other time off for employees - their productivity hasn't necessarily decreased.

I'm not convinced this couldn't work.

The majority of people, especially the low wagers, don't make a "salary" they are paid hourly. For some reason some don't seem to understand this. Walmart for instance is the number one employer in the U.S. and their average employee does not get a salary. Those folks are barely making it on 40 hours a week.

All part of the DSA 2021 platform. People need to wake up to the fact the Dem party has been taken over by the progressive socialists.

A four-day, 32-hour work week with no reduction in wages or beneļ¬ts

I think you could make an argument that salary folks could likely get the same amount of work done in 32 hours (4 days) as they do in 40 hours (5 days).

The muck created for hourly folks is probably what will keep such a bill from passing..

Why not just go all out and have a 4 hour work week? Why be half-assed about it?

Maybe you libs didn't get the memo: you can already work from two hours a week to sixty hours a week or more. Your choice. Nobody is forcing you to work 40 hours a week.

What a GREAT IDEA. All those companies that couldn't afford to hire 40 Hr/ Wk full time (thanks to Obamanation care) now can pare back the hours below 32 Hr / Wk...
All that free time - we can now get a second and third job...

BTW - any one who thinks they'll enjoy MORE pay for LESS hours will be pleasantly surprised by the BUMP UP in retail prices necessary to recover those increased costs (which will include taxes, overhead, insurance, yada yada yada). Otherwise the invisible pink unicorn of socialism will have to fart rainbow clouds of free money to cover the inflation...

Can you PP's share your reasons for thinking it's a bad idea? I'm genuinely curious.
what's a PP?

as to good idea/bad idea, I'll do the right thing - which is to read up on it.

I know one thing - you're not going to get employers to essentially provide everyone a 20% raise.
