Not crazy about the Dem party myself, but I sure as hell don't want the Rep party. Until they can get off the crazy train, I'll be voting Dem.

You’re not mistaken, that response was sarcastic. It is you who isn’t familiar with the text of the Constitution. Try to familiarize yourself with it sometime. You would learn the Constitution and slavery are antithetical to one another. And while you’re at it, read the Declaration of Independence? After reading that you will quickly learn the Founders were not creating a slave state run by white male oligarchs. And an oligarchy? How does a oligarchy work in a representative government?

The text is ""We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator ..." But that's because they didn't consider slaves to be men. They considered them to be property like horses or cattle or dogs.
